Christina Tan is an Australian musical theatre performer. She's a world class singer and dancer, and although she's not huge (in size or in star power), she has a habit of playing whichever part is my sentimental favourite.
That's reason enough for me to create this website, but there are others. Firstly, I had trouble finding out anything about her online, and secondly, when the charity Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights Aids announced a production of Into the Woods in Concert, I joined their mailing list, stating that if Cinderella perfected On the Steps of the Palace, she'd have a fan for life. At the time, I didn't know that Cinderella would be being played by the actress who had won me over already in Anything Goes. Well, whether she got the message or not, On the Steps of the Palace came out flawlessly, and I've never been happier to keep my word.
For now, everything I know about Christina Tan I have compiled from profiles in programmes, and here it is:
Christina began studying singing and dance at the age of six. At twelve, she scored her first professional work, touring in Picasso's play Four Little Girls. She later studied at the Victorian College of the Arts. After that she continued to appear in various productions. Her big break, as I see it, was obtaining the role of Meg Giry in The Phantom of the Opera when she was twenty.
