Ima Nemic was not always a two piece, nor was it always cutting edge, but hey, if nothing else, it's been one hell of a ride.

The first stages of the band. The year was 2000 and the band (or something resembling it) was formed. One night at original rhythm guitarist Chris O'Donnell's house, original lead guitarist Tom Lawton and then bassist Chris Warburton (Warbo) decided to have a jamming session. This proved to be very productive, and if nothing else, one hell of a laugh. At about the same time, Dani Martin had just started to learn drums yet had no knowledge and little interest in the project known as Corporate Lava. When it was confided in Dani that the band were in need of a drummer, Dani stepped up to the plate, anxious as hell to be playing with such great musicians. The first practise with the now complete Corporate Lava took place one Saturday afternoon at Dani's house. It proved fantastic and it gelled immediately. Witnesses were shocked that this was the first time the band had ever played together. The band we're happy to play their relaxed indie-influenced beats with a garage rock twinge. It seemed like a dream for the band as a whole, they were all doing as they loved to do: play music.
The first loss to the band was incurred in the shape of rhythm guitarist Chris O'Donnell leaving to focus on his basketball, and goddamn can that funky white-boi play, an American scholarship beckons so we wish him the entirity of all the luck he deserves, which i hasten to add is all the luck in the world with all the effort the guy puts in. The band were down to three, and with it, in came a new name, "Lava" due to its more catchy ring. The band came across their first major problem, vocals. They had no one to step up to the mic as it were. They auditioned many vocalists, standouts included Katie Fearn, (who at one point was to be the vocalist with her fantastic and haunting voice, yet it was deemed not to fit the band) and Annisha Watts. Unfortunately, a girls voice was not what the band were after, yet there was a noticable lack of male vocal interest. The only offer came in the shape of Tom Davidson, this however caused a riff within the band as Warbo was not overly keen on the idea as he felt it would destroy the shape of the music that he wanted to make. It was then discovered we had a hidden treasure within the band the whole time in the shape of Warbo as vocalist. His debut was at a house-party at Emily Gildea's house attended by friends of the band, and which resulted in toplessness by 2/3's of the band, with Dani deciding to keep clothed (not an accurate omen to the future at all.) Warbo's voice was a hit and it was decided that Warbo should stay on vocals. The band now reached fantastic creative peaks with such local classics as "Ace" "Bush Kangaroo" and "Sitting Here."
The band then realised after a string of successful party gigs that this band had infact got prospects to aspire to for the future. It was then the name was re-thought and chnaged to The Polytones, their most successful incarnation. With the new professional atmosphere and attitude towards band, the band continued producing local success one after another, "This Aint It" "One Dose" and perhaps their all time best song "Revolution" were born amongst others. They even played a school sponsored gig to 800 people. It seemed nothing could bring the high flying band down, yet in just one gig, the band would be destroyed mentally and reputationally........"The Retard Gig" : A disaster of a gig at best. The band was shoved into the corner of a dancehall-cum-bar and forced to play a quietened gig to a random conglomorate of retards, orphans and their carers who took to it like a brick to water. The band sunk, under a sea of complete silence. Truly the most humiliating time for all 3 band members, never again would the now named The Infidels play live again together, in summer 2003, after 3 years, the band broke up.
Age Of Red
Warbo and Dani decided not to let what they saw as an opportunity to play great music go to waste. With the help of manager AnnMarie Winter, the guys grafted in the help of sensational metal guitarist Jamie Sajdak. He was truly a great guitarist, yet not what the band were looking for, they knew this from day one of course, yet noone dared to say anything and so ensued 2 months of really quality metal sounding music, and although it was a raging success with everyone who heard it, it was not with the actual members of the band. It all came to blows on day in summer 2003. The band were 1 week away from their debut gig at the Vic Inn in Derby (a true statement of how good they word and how much effort had gone in.) when a practise went really pearshaped. None of the songs were working, they all sounded flat and lacking of everything that the band prided themselves on. The band split up and in his rage Dani announced he was playing the gig "with or without anyone else, i'll play the fucking gig on my own if i have to." and Warbo was in agreement and so it was said they would take the gig on, in a week and write a whole set and go the fuck for it.......and so Ima Nemic was born.
