The Tongue of the Ilonggo Nation

Ilonggo consists of "Sina" spoken by people in the city, and "Kinaray-a" spoken by people in the rural parts of the province. Much of Ilonggo words are heavily Hispanized or rather Spanish in the very sense. There are few chinese words and few visayan phrases. In the peak of Spanish occupation in the country, Spanish was used as a medium of communication in Iloilo City. Even after the Spanish colony in the Philippines declined, few Universities in the country continue teaching Spanish to students. Few- Ilonggish(Ilonggo- English) words evolved from daily trivial activities.

Spanish Words- Most nouns in Ilonggo are Hispanic.
