Faculty Research Associate, Univ. of Maryland

I spent 2006 and 2007 as a Faculty Research Associate working on the Correlates of Linguistic Proficiency research project at the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures of the University of Maryland in College Park.  In this project, I developed a comprehensive test battery to assess the acquisition of Persian as a second language.  The goal was to develop a diagnostic battery that will be able to measure the linguistic competence of both second language learners and heritage speakers as compared to native speakers and correlated with ILR scores.  An additonal goal was that results from the data collection would permit us to draw conclusions about differences between heritage and L2 learners and to identify patterns across other languages that have a similar or different typology from Persian.

Welcome to my home page!  From here you'll be able to see my professional and social interests.  I am a theoretical linguist with special interest in syntax and psycholinguistics.  My dissertation titled "Minimality and Turkish Relative Clauses" is an analysis of Turkish relative clauses within the Minimalist framework.  It includes proposals regarding the EPP, the structure and behavior of NPs and DPs, case assigment, and argument structure in Turkish.

I have posted my work both in syntax and SLA for downloading for anyone interested.

I have also made a page for hard-to-find items.  For example, I have posted a scanned copy of an often cited work by Eva Csato (1985) on Turkish relative clauses.

On other pages I have included photos, both professional and of my family.
