Distant History of Iles of Doria

The Iles of Doria is a grouping of islands in the chain of islands known as Iles De Brume. The climate ranges from tropical on several of the islands, to that of a rain forest on one island, the beautiful Scottish Highlands on Dragon’s Keep. The islands have been found to have no inhabitants, that is to say there is no on native to these lands. It is a place for the most part untouched for centuries. History is unclear as to what happened to the peoples of the islands at that time, but for the past 1,000 years, these islands have been at the mercy of time.

From the ruins that have been found, it is clear that at one time, this chain of islands supported a thriving civilization. They were organized, worked well together and had established trade routes, and shipping lanes. Exploration has unearthed a great castle on the main large island. It is believe that this was the center of their government, and will once again be the center of government.

Nothing has been found to explain what happened to the peoples of these islands, or their civilization. It is as though something simply moved them from their homes. For more than a millennia time has marched across the fields, the mountains and ruins of this forgotten land.

Recent History of Doria

Several years ago, Markeen “Chance” Jastri came seeking a place of peace to play his music, build instruments and raise his horses. He found the tiny island of Tymora’s Kiss and made it his home. Catch Lord Jastri in the tavern or at the Bard & Swan Inn and ask him of his adventures as the island was settled and his home began to take shape.

While he loved Tymora’s Kiss, Chance was a wandering spirit and that spirit took him to the Kingdom of Telarus . While there, the Thief of Hearts found that his heart was stolen away by a member of the government. She was a force of nature, a woman of strength and beauty beyond compare. A friendship began with the giving of a rose and with in one cycle of the moon, Vanessa Cantrell-Silverhand had become the latest victim of the Thief of Hearts.

Both Chance and Vanessa were pledged to others. He was engaged, and she was actually married. For a long while, they fought the attraction, both maintained that they were nothing more than friends, never realizing they were fooling no one but themselves. In the mean time, Vanessa’s husband had left for lands in the East, to fight a battle that he never quiet explained to his wife. Chance’s fiancé, the beautiful Elizabeth seemed to simply drift away as well. It could be said that the pair were destined for the other, that they had been searching all along the broken road, until finally the Goddess smiled upon them.

Chance and Vanessa began to escape, with the Little Princess, to Tymora’s Kiss several times a week. It was soon clear that Vanessa was torn between her love of Telarus and the tropical paradise of the islands. Vonnie began to learn to swim and soon took to island life as though she had been there her whole life. Each time it was time to return to Telarus, Vanessa and her daughter would go, but reluctantly.

After several months of travel, by portal, between Swan Haven and Tymora’s Kiss, Chance had finally decided that enough was enough. His Lady Love and Princess were not adjusting well, and it was time to make a change. So upon a star filled night, not long after her divorce was granted, Chance took her hand and asked her to be his wife. There was not a moment of hesitation as she accepted and a new chapter opened in their lives. Less than one cycle of the moon passed between proposal and the night they stood on the pink sand beaches, May 2, First Year of Doria (2005) and were for all time joined before the Goddesses that each serves..

Chance and Vanessa were gifted the group of islands known as Iles of Doria by Kyral Laithe VanSandt and her husband, Bas VanSandt, to develop and create what they could.

Hand in hand, heart to heart, side-by-side, the Duke & Duchess of Doria have worked to build a new country, a place of vast beauty and unforgiving landscapes. Together they have begun the work of building a dream, one they share with those that call Doria home.
