JN, or Jimmy Neutron, is a CGI cartoon created by the one and only John A. Davis
(Below.)
Jimmy
Neutron was first really introduced to the public eye when it "blasted
into theatres" in 2001. The film grossed over $100 million and was
nominated for an Oscar as well. The two brilliant Dallas masterminds
behind the scenes were elated when Nickelodeon proposed a deal for a
television series and a toy line. After fourteen years of struggling as
co-owners for their DNA (Davis & Alcorn) Products Inc, it seemed
lady luck was on their side. Of course, with the show's smart humor,
fantastic plot structure, and beautiful CGI animation, it's a wonder
John A. Davis and Keith Alcorn's talents weren't discovered sooner.
The
show stars ten year old boy genius, Jimmy Neutron. Jimmy is constantly
inventing, making new inventions. These inventions vary from rockets
(such as the Strato XL) to wormhole generators. However, these
inventions haven't always had all the bugs worked out of them, and no
matter how hard Neutron tries, things seem to always go awry. Not that
it's a bad thing, however. Sure, he may have accidentally aided in the
release of an army of blue pants destined to take over the world and
even turned his teacher into a fifty foot spinach woman, but hey, it
happens.
Life
can get difficult for Jimmy. "Sometimes it's a heavy burden being a man
of science," he says. "People treat you differently. Sometimes that
gets me down, you know? But then I de-interlace my atomic structure a
walk through a few walls, and I feel much better." Although Jimmy's
brainal capacity is [literally] off the charts, he can't help but
wonder what it's like to be normal. After a rough day, he sits down in
the lab to make a "brain drain helmet." "I just want an average,
nothing special brain, like you guys have." His best friends, Carl and
Sheen question his judgement. In the end, Jimmy discovers time after
time, that he's lucky for his big brain, because without it, he
wouldn't be able to clean up his messes [that his big brain created for
him, of course.]
After
four years, the show has grown itself quite a fandom, especially with
it's television premiere movies like Win, Lose, and Kaboom! and
The Jimmy Timmy Power Hour. The audience especially craves the action
and occasional romance spread throughout the episodes. After watching a
couple episodes of "Jimbo" (as Hugh calls him), you'll be hooked and
begging for more. Unfortunately enough, Nickelodeon has decided not to
order a fourth season for Jimmy, and the show's in it's prime and
getting more popular by the day! We see this cancellation as utterly
ridiculous, and we're doing our best to petition and keep the show on
the air. However, few fans are aware of the fate that awaits this show,
so we're doing our best to spread the word. Keep watching, tell your
friends, and get active! Even just a handwritten letter to Nickelodeon
would help!
