And:

We encourage you to bring items below to send to the soldiers in Iraq.

We will work with Mario Sewell, who organized the La Quinta Peace Vigils to, get them shipped to Iraq.  An Army officer currently in Iraq will insure the items get distributed.  Here's a list of the items that would be most welcomed by the soldiers under his command:

Food: Tapatio Hot Sauce, Bean Dip, Fritos (Flamin’ Hot), Trail Mix, Crackers, Cheese Whiz, Top Ramen, Won-Ton, Cup o' Noodles , Candy (that doesn't melt) Starburst, Skittles, Now & Later, Nuts (flavored (hot) pistachios, smokey almonds, sunflower seeds (flavored/regular), Honey-Roasted peanuts, Menudo, Saladitos, Flavored Coffee, Beef Jerky (very popular).

Items/Meds: Small Flashlights, Cigarette Lighters, Chapstick, Excedrin/Ibuprofen/Tylenol.

Clothes: Sleep pants/shorts, boxer/boxer briefs/T-Shirts, white athletic socks that cover the ankles, combat boot socks (black, green or tan)

Phone cards would also be appreciated, although many organizations are now providing them to soldiers in Iraq.  (Recommended: AT&T/200 minutes (=30” in Iraq).

There will be a container at the Peace Vigils for any donated items. Contributions will also be accepted to help pay for postage.  All items received will be packaged and mailed to an officer in Iraq for distribution.
