PROBATIONING SEMINAR 2010

Date: 23rd January 2010
Time: 2.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Venue: SMK (P) Sri Aman

Dresscode: Full school uniform and good General Appearance

Transportation

The bus departs from school at 1.15 p.m. All probationers are to gather at the Long Bench around 1.00 p.m, then board the buses together.

There are 2 buses. Kindly find out which bus you're assigned to and pay for your ride (RM4!) with your BOD in charge on board. Bus 1- Int. Christine and Bus 2- Int. Victoria.

Fees

RM5 per person, to be paid at the registration booth in Sri Aman itself.

Our own BODs will be manning this booth, pay to no one but Assuntarian BODs. THANKS.

All probationers would be split into ten groups with probationers from the 5 other ICCPJ schools. BODs from all 6 schools would conduct the sessions and bring Interact to you!

Remember to participate enthusiastically and behave, present our club well. Every BOD will be watching you probationers, so don't slink away shyly. Have a fun Interact-introduction, meet-your-peeps, learning experience!

"Be My Valentine" with IJN

We're making another visitation to Institut Jantung Negara on the 20th February 2010, Saturday. Details would be given to the participants in due time.

However, do take note, only 12 spaces are available. Only probationers are encouraged to join, for Interactors had their chance in December and the huge group we brought then was, MUCH TOO HUGE a group. Do note, such a visitation impacts YOUR life, just as much as you hope to impact the lives of IJN children. It's a MUST GO trip and do rush for those limited spaces. :D

Love Bites

AIM: To finance the above IJN project

We're packing them and selling them for RM5 each. We'll prepare heart-shaped notes for those who have supported us and collect them later, for other people to give some hearts for IJN.

Bring chocolates (those small Cadbury in a box). 1 box for 1 project point. Pass them to Nicole by Thursday the 28th of January, yeah!

Ultimate Giver

This is our MAJOR community service project for this year. You guys (Interactors and probationers) have been grouped according to avenues and different causes. See your Avenue Directors if anything. Everyone is expected to do something. :D

So, start generating your biggest contribution EVER!

Think about:

The aims of your project.

How do you want to contribute and make an impact?(Who are you helping, what do they need, why do you want to help them that way)
Finance (How to raise money, HOW MUCH do you need to raise)
Community Service (What do you want to do there, how much do you want to give)

Delegate work smartly, work as a team and we wish you all the best! We'll schedule discussions, etc.

(If you need permission letters/ advice on how to go about school protocol, see any BOD. Do not go about something without clarification from your Avenue Director.)

Spring Cleaning in School

was quite a success!

They did these on Tuesday and Wednesday (19th and 20th) and it was hard work. THANKS to all who helped and come collect your project points!

[For probationers, if you are wondering why is it the 6th GM and not the 2nd, it is because our current fiscal year is from July 2009 to July 2010. Likewise when you get installed as a Interactor, you'll be an Interactor of 2010/2011.]

Hey all,

Welcome once again into the Interact Club of Assunta! We are so glad that you made the right decision, and that you are now part of us!

Please remember to submit your membership forms latest by Tuesday night (19/1/2010, 11.59pm) via the "Registration Form" link.

Also, remember to return your permission slips through your class representative to Emily Cheh (5 Science 2).

For those who did not attend our first AGM, it is not too late to join Interact! If you are still interested, please see Sarah Loke (5 Science 2) OR Christine Choo (5 Science 1). Probationers, if you know of anyone that is keen on joining Interact, tell them the option is still open!

Probationers and Interactors, start getting involved and collect your project points! See the different Board members to find out how you can collect more project points in the different avenues. Also, read the notice board everyday for more updates.

Recruitment Drive

We've got an amazing recruitment drive coming up, and all Interactors are involved!

FIRSTLY, you're our agents to promote Interact. Let them know what are we about and why you're an Interactor! DO lead them to our website, to read our materials in school and to ask real Interactors about us!

One way could be tagging your friends on our pictures. Or reposting them on your profile and passing it to them. :)

TALK. Interact would reach out to so many more people with YOUR mouths. :D

SECONDLY,
Start inviting keen members to our AGM 2010. It'll be a HUGEEE meeting and anyone can come. Make it clear, that coming doesn't make them an Interactor. We're only letting them know how we work.There is NOTHING to lose. :D

Our materials now involve:

All Interactors, as usual, attendance is compulsory. Do invite keen members to this meeting, even if they're just wondering what we're like. Let them know, attending doesn't make them a member of the club, there is NOTHING to lose!

We've planned this HUGE marketing movement that will hit Assunta from Day 1 of school! Check it out. All confirmed designs and publicty trinkets to be launched soon.

Also, all Interactors should take note that any member of the school may approach you with enquiries. Every Interactor will play the role of our agents during this drive. Please answer these enquiries accurately, inform them about our projects and refer to the BOD if you need clarification. Most importantly, spread the enthusiasm! Let them know why YOU are an Interactor.

Newsletter 09/10

Although the website is used to report our past projects and provide more information about our club, a newsletter would also be a great way to remember our awesome projects and memories!
To be eco-friendly, our newsletter will not be printed but instead, posted online.
And besides, that way, even other people at the other end of the world can read it! =)
A newsletter is not a formal report, so there shouldn't be just words but also FUN stuff!!

Interactors with opinions on the contents and ideas to ATTRACT people to download and read the newsletter, email Int. Alison your ideas.

Interactors under the Editorial avenue, this is one of your BIG thing, so, contribute as much as you can.
And also, please check your emails as frequent as possible.

Also, ICSMKA is proud, happy and definitely honoured for being noted as a case study for "Effective Use of Internet Media in Interact".

Rotarian Joel Wong, the Webmaster of Rotary District 3300 had used ICSMKA as an example during his session at the District Conference 2009, for using the tools of the Internet effectively, specifically with our IU Day 2009 and regular club updates. With even more tips from him, we're eager to fully harness the magic of the Internet.

Right now, we're on Facebook Groups AND Twitter, are emailing members often and basking in the lovely pleasures of our Internet. Do follow us!

Holiday Projects.

Alright Interactors, MAJOR UPDATES. Please check and take note.

IJN Trip, on the 3rd Dec, Thursday.

For all Interactors going for the IJN Trip, there are several things to take note.

Dress code-
Interact Shirt,
decent bottoms (no shorts or skirts),
decent shoes (no flip-flops) &
CHRISTMAS HATS.
Green, white and red accessories encouraged (think scarves, ear rings, ribbons, jewellery!)

Meet in school at 9 a.m. in the canteen. You will be briefed on what and what not to do. Preparation for arts&crafts, packing up stuff. It is VERY NECESSARY for you to be there at 9.

The bus will leave as soon as we're done, to IJN. When returning, we'll head off to PECH to deliver our study facilities then back to school.
Estimated time to reach SMK Assunta- 2 p.m.

Comm. Service members, you have been told to bring stuff. Radios, materials, songs, etc. Please REMEMBER THEM.

All attending members, we're setting up a Bear Corner, called "EVERYONE DESERVES A HUG". Please bring any bears, soft toys and any other toys that you'll like to donate. We actually have Santa coming to distribute them. We have approximately 60 kids at IJN awaiting our celebration, so please donate generously. BRING TOYS. :)

Finance Project- Bazaar

We've booked a booth at I ¢¾ Bazaar by RylDesigns to sell our stuff and make money.

Date: 5th of December 2009
Time: 12 noon till 8pm
Venue: Indoor, 1st Floor, The 19 USJ City Mall
(formerly Known as D19ital Mall, USJ 19)

We'll be selling :

Cupcakes - RM3 each , 3 for RM8.

Brownies RM3 per piece.

Manicure - RM5 for normal RM7 with stickers.

Henna - Depending on the design.

Want to sell anything else? If you can come up with decent proposals and merchandises at low cost prices, Call Nicole!

Interactors, we need: people to do Manicure & Henna as well as salespeople! Please call Nicole if you can attend on behalf of Interact Club, and state what time slot you'll be there. We don't expect your services from 12 to 8, but do stay as long as you can. It's a brilliant bazaar to shop too! We'll take turns to have fun. :)

District Conference

All Interactors attending DC on the 10th to 13th.

PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY.

No shorts.

Please pack your club T-shirts and uniform. PROPER court shoes. We will check your attire throughout the program, any misbehaviour will be dealt with.

We are meeting at our school bus stop at 10 a.m. You are advised to eat before leaving, the agenda in Nilai starts at 2 p.m.

Bus fare of RM17. Please bring and pass to Christine on the day itself.

Bring phones and cameras, your responsibility.

Quarterly Report Writing

Any more pictures to submit? I've received a good number of some, and have offered project points for them. HEY, it's an easy project that serves a good purpose.

ICC GAMES 2009/ 2010

ICC GAMES 2009/ 2010
Organized by: The Interact Coordinating Commitee of Petaling Jaya 09/ 10

It's an annual affair, where Interactors from the 6 ICCPJ schools come together and compete, literally and physically! However, fun competition aside as we're mostly good sports (:D), ICC GAMES aims to promote fellowship and to bond.

This year, ICCPJ is hosting a Bowling Tournament. :)

Date: 7th Dec 2009 (Monday)
Time: 11.00 a.m.
Venue: Cosmic Bowl, Mid Valley
Price: NOT CONFIRMED YET (approx. the normal price of bowling)

Categories:
1. Open Tournament (competing as individuals)
2. Interschool Tournament (4 per team, each club sends one team)
3. Against Rotarians (Top 4 Bowlers of ICCPJ against Top 4 Rotarians)

Prizes are prepared for the Top 3 of each Category.

Rules:
1. Standard bowling score system apply.
2. Each bowler may compete in all three categories if desired, provided you pay the entry fees for every category involved in.
3. Be punctual and stay for the whole tournament, as far as you win. The rounds would be played following the order of categories as stated above.
4. Fees to be paid on the day itself.
5. Permission slip to be obtained from Vice Secretary, signed by parents/ guardian and brought on the day itself.

Announcements.

Hey Interactors!

There are a few things you guys need to take note of, and here goes:

ONE: Attire to the ICSMKA Party.

Interact T-shirt with school attire (pinafore, school shorts or trackbottoms). Black long or three-quarters pants are also allowed.

NO JEANS or casual shorts.

And do remember to keep to the rubic cube theme. 6 accessories of different colours for swapping! (Red, White, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Green)

TWO: Holiday Events for Children's Month!

For those of you who have been missing meetings and am not too sure of what's happening, do take note!

*NEW* Visitation to Tadika Fatima-

Assunta's Alumni have been supporting this kindergarten for as long as we've known and now, we're chipping in! During the few hours we'll be introducing colours, play games and have loads of fun.

Date: 19th November 2009 (Thursday)

Time: 9 am to 11 am

Venue: Tadika Fatima

B10-1-25 & B10-1-26. Block 10. Jalan PJS 2B/1. Desa Mentari 2 46150 PJ.

What are we doing?

Happy Meal Breakfast (food decoration- think raisins and bananas and cherries. :D)

Introducing colour charts, hosting simple educational games.

How can ALL Interactors help?

A project point for some food and other games-y stuff. HUGE colour charts, colourful balls. Etcetera.

We'll be collecting them at 8 am in SMK Assunta that same day.

Want to come along?

See Lavinyaa this very Friday at the party to secure a place. Only 15 Interactors are needed though, as it's a small place. Own transport required too.

Oh and do take note, the kids converse mainly in Malay. You'll need to be kid-friendly. :)

Little Kids of Malaysia- Visitation to KLCC with PECH Children

Date: 21st November 2009 (Saturday)

Time: 10 am to 5 pm

Venue: MEET IN SCHOOL

What are we doing?

We'll be painting T-shirts with the 1Malaysia concept in the school canteen, eat lunch, move to KLCC, watch movies and take photos at the KLCC park! A kid to each Interactor as you guide them with every activity. A very fun-filled day indeed. :)

How can you help?

A project point for either of these tasks:

Preparing templates (and designs) for the 1Malaysia T-shirts
Serve food, run errands
Bring brushes, newspapers and pallettes.
Write a report and photograph every activity.

Going with us?

We've already got enough people, but if you still want to go, see Lavinyaa and see if there's any more spaces on the bus.

Those who have signed up, do remember to take a permission slip from Emily tomorrow, get it signed and COME PUNCTUAL on that day.

Trip to Institut Jantung Negara with PECH

We'll be spreading the love and teach PECH kids to care for other unfortunate people. It's Christmas and let us share what this special season is all about.

By the way, we've purchased study facilities (which are very much needed) to the PECH Home. We'll be presenting our gift of tables and chairs on the very same day.

Date: 3rd December 2009 (Thursday)

Time: Approx. 10 am - 4 pm

Venue: MEET IN SCHOOL

What are we doing there?

We'll perform, tell stories, sing carols, dance along, play, Christmas art&craft, etcetera.

How can you help?

A project point for either:

Bring decorative items (we'll return them after using. :D)
Volunteer to do performances (dance alongs, leading the singing)
Light food (sandwiches, buns, boxes of mineral water)
Run errands
Art & Crafts materials

We'll let you know specifically once you approach any BOD.

Mural Painting

Since we can't do anything now as the wall's near the examination hall, we'll be postphoning this towards the end of the year. The design is ready, so now we need painters!

Weekdays in mid-December, AFTER SPM.

Recruitment Banner

We need designers! We'll be printing in so it can be used every year, so let the design be reallly coool. The design will have to be submitted to Justine by the end of November. Haggle for project points.

Cleaning of Science Labs

We're revamping the Chemistry lab (furthest left on the Senior Block). We need information for the notice boards, workers and cleaners to clear the mess in our cupboards.
