Merry Christmas to all of the runners out there. It has been a long time since I have posted anything on here. It has to do with facebook. It makes it so easy to go to and get stupid stuff at a rate faster than you can take it in. Got to keep getting on here and forcing myself to stay here. I have questioning myself on coaching xc another few years and let it go at that or try for the high school vb job. I am getting tired of the lack of runners lately. There are to many other distractions that are easier for them to do. Golf, softball, baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer and the list seems to keep going on. Travel teams and a lot of pay to play sports that make them feel they are going to be the greatest players out there. Some of these kids are in so many sports they don't have time to be kids. I can still see myself trying to get the athletes to run over the summer so they come to practice in some kind of shape. So I guess I am not any better then the rest of the coaches. If you want to be good, you have to keep doing it. So much for my ramblings. Have a great Christmas day and a Happy New Year.

Jo's have been going on for over a month. We had our picnic and had a really good turnout. We are having 4 girls and 3 boys from MC and 3 boys and 1 girl from Havana coming to the races. I know it takes a lot of runners to make teams but I kind of wish we had more. I can understand some of the parents problems with going so far to run for less than 15 min. I guess it is all in the attitude of how important that being an individual is to their athlete. That is why I like running, you are you and you can only do what you can. Can't blame anything on anyone else after the race.
Good luck to Emilio tomorrow at the IHSA State Cross Country meet. I know it doesn't have anything to do with luck unless someone falls down and you beat them. I hope you have the race of your young life. Many more miles to go before you are done. Keep your goal in mind.

What a race at Rushville. Rain, mud and lots of runners. It was a tough race with the amount of runners. I don't think any of the new atletes had ever imagined running in a down pour like that. It was a good soaking rain. Alexander found out how unforgiving the mud is. He went for 20th place to well over 50th when he slide out of control 3 times. He worked his way back up to the 30's. He really has started to mature as an athlete. I don't have any of the places or team finishes. As soon as they are posted, I well get them out.

Got the first meet in the books. Happy with the results. We didn't win but I thought they did ok. Now they have a urpose to run other than me telling them to. I will have to get this started with every meet now. Alexander and Bailey ran their fastest times for any meet. I could tell a difference in the practices after the meet. Some of them didn't like the results. Nest meet is Sept 3rd here at home. It will be a little hotter than the other day. It shouldn't make to much of a difference.

With the awards ceremony comes the end of another season. One more practice and then it's game time. All or nothing kind of mentality. I want to see a record or 2 broken. I know Issac has it in him, now he just has to do it. He will have to fight through the pain in the last 100 to do it. Lets hope for good weather so he gets that chance. Run thru at 9:30 and off to Peoria.

Gotta love the small practices, NOT!!!! It did go smooth though. I am hoping this taper will work for Issac. He will have to under 5 to place high. Sammie just needs to throw good once, just working on form this week. Not much else on my mind.

Rain. It should be clear by the end of school. A good short practice for Issac and Sammie. Issac gets to do his 500 repeats and Sammie gets to work on form only. Never had this few go to stated before. Nothing I want to get used to. Guess I will have to start recruiting the athletes to come out again. I really hate to do that because you get a lot that really don't want to be there and they cause some trouble. I had the one that wanted to be there for the most part. A few I kind of question. On to state.

We are at the end of the track season for some of the athletes. They had their last practice of the year. I sure hope the younger athletes come back next year. I have seen so much improvement from all of them. The 6th graders really worked hard for their first year. I am happy with just about all of them. There will be a small hand full that will be going to state. I just hope the weather isn't a main factor in who goes. If it sucks, it sucks for all the athletes at the same time. Rain and wind isn't what we need. I don't see a lot cutting times to get out in second place for anyone. It would be nice to be wrong.

Last practice day for sectionals. Work on any last details that may come up. Explain the weather and what is going to happen at the meet. Should bring home the tent and try to do somehing with it. The high school broke a couple of suport bars trying to put it up. I will see if the top will fit on the other tent. The seeding meeting happened and Issac is no 1 in the 800 and 1600, 3rd in the 400. Haleigh is first in the discus with her best throw, now she has to do it again. What I like about this meet is that there is always something magical about it. It brings out the best in most of the athletes. It is hard to explain but sometimes you can actually feel if.

Things went well last night. Saw some good things. Issac had a good night with pr's in all 3 races. He is getting tougher. I don't think there will be that many good teams like last night. Running against all those 2a teams helps us out going into sectioanls. I will find out tonight at the seeding meeting just how we stand with every other team. I just need to have everyone healthy to run. 2 days of practice and a day of rest for the rest of the week.
