The fastest and most convenient way to get to Iligan City would probably be by air to Cagayan de Oro City. There are regular flights to Cagayan de Oro daily from Manila, Cebu City and Davao City. Travel time from Manila is about 1 hour 20 minutes. From Cebu City or Davao City, the trip takes about 20 minutes. From Cagayan de Oro City, you take a bus or hire a taxi to take you to a ride of 86 kms. to Iligan.
The sea route will of course take a bit longer but the major shipping companies have been upgrading their fleets over the last few years and now offer reasonable accommodations and facilities and faster service - some taking only 25 hours or less from Manila to Iligan or vice versa.
