Lancers 8 Icemen 3

Febuary 17, 2008 - After falling behind in their best-of-seven series by a score of 2-1 the Icemen looked to bounce back in a big way against the Lancers back at home on Sunday. Unfortunately the effort came out flat in the first period, and Lucknow capitalized on a few questionable penalties against Drayton and jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after one period.

In the second the Lancers continued to press as Stanley fired a shot past James Novak to make the score 3-0. After another quick goal from Lucknow Chris Collins, who didn't get the start Sunday, came into the net in relief but didn't fair much better. Soon the score was a surprising 6-0 in favour of Lucknow. Determined to change that Aaron Element notched his first of the series to cut the deficit to 6-1.

Early in the third, Icemen forward Cody Feltis left the game after having trouble breathing. He was hit across the throat with a stick and did not return. The Lucknow player was quickly thrown out and given a five minute major. Once the game finally the resumed the Icemen finally began to compete. Devon McGuire score a couple of powerplay goals to make the score 6-3. But once again Lucknow stormed back and the final score was 8-3 Lancers. Game 5 goes Friday night in Lucknow where the Icemen will hope to avoid elimination down 3-1 in the series. Best of luck Icemen!

Sincerely,
McKinlee Duggan
