Drayton is now down two games to none against the Durham Thundercats in the Senior A quarterfinal playoff serious after a loss this past Sunday afternoon. Drayton went into Sunday's contest at home already down one game after an epic double overtime game in Durham. Needless to say Drayton needed to come out strong at home to get back in the series. Both teams had their chances early but Durham capitalized first when a forward broke in alone and scored glove side on Drayton's Liam Johnston. Drayton would get it back two minutes later though when Wes Miller walked in and slapped a shot past Durham's keeper. The end to end action resumed with big saves at both ends but it was Durham scoring a power play goal at 1:40 of the 1st period after a nice passing play infront of Liam Johnston. Brady Claussen regained the tie for Drayton with a beautiful deke move and backhand goal with 53.2 seconds left in the 1st.

In the second Durham came out flying and took advantage of some powerplay opportunities, quickly firing shot after shot at Johnston. Durham scored their 3rd goal of the game at 13:06 of the 2nd period after Jeremy Franks potted a garbage goal in front of the Drayton net. Going into the 3rd and final period of play Durham held a 3-2 lead over Drayton.

Drayton was able to gain momentum when they were not in the penalty box but at the beginning of the third the team was once again in trouble. Durham added to their lead at 13:04 making the score 4-2 for the Thundercats. A few minutes later a Thundercat forward broke out on a breakaway and scored to increase the lead to 5-2 and put away the game for Durham. Drayton is now down 2-0 and will try again this Friday in Durham and Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM in Drayton. Good Luck ICEMEN!
