the points are the deportment, entertainment and music points added together.

The best Soloist = Julie Thomas the vocal soloist from Strata

Contest rules

Ireland Colliery Band & Staveley Town Council Entertainment Contest

Sunday 22nd June 2008 Start time 11.30am approx.  

At The Speedwell Rooms, Staveley.

 

Contest Rules

 

Individual bands own choice entertainment programme no more than 25 minutes including your compere.  Each band, at the adjudicator’s discretion, may be penalised 5 points for every 2 minutes they go over this time limit.

 

Each band must include 1 solo item.

 

Non-registered contest with up to 30 players, but a list of players must be submitted to the contest committee no later than the 16th June 2008.

 

The bands programme and percussion layout is to be forwarded to the contest             committee no later than the 16th June 2008.

 

Each band to provide their own compere.

 

One band official is needed to represent their band and act as adjudicator for Bands Award Prize.  This official will be needed at the contest venue 30 minutes before the start of the contest. (They do not vote on their own bands performance)

 

There will be 3 adjudicators, 1 in open adjudication for music, 1 open for entertainment, and 1 for deportment, all marks will be totalled to determine winners.

 

The Entertainment judge will be marking out of 25

The Deportment judge will be marking out of 25

  • Deportment on and off stage
  • Stage presence

 

      A licensed bar is open on the day of the contest, the consumption of alcohol brought into  

      the event by individuals is prohibited.

1st Place – trophy + £200

2nd Place – trophy + £100

3rd Place – trophy + £50

Highest placed lower section band not in the prizes (section 3 downwards) - Trophy

Best Soloist – trophy
