The International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. (ICAN), is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC).
ICAN of Richmond is a consumer-oriented, advocacy childbirth group. We provide education and information on cesarean prevention. We want you to come when you are considering your first pregnancy or if you are already pregnant. Learn about ways to reduce your risk of a cesarean birth. We also provide emotional support for those healing from cesareans or traumatic birth experiences. We encourage preparation for a positive birth experience, including VBAC. ICAN of Richmond can provide referrals for supportive doulas, childbirth educators, midwives and physicians.
