ICAN OF NYCThe International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. (ICAN), is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC). ICAN was founded by Esther Booth Zorn in 1982.

ICAN of NYC was founded in August 2005 by Maria Korfiatis-Barroso, Narcisa Sava and Haya Brant. Along with our mission statement above, we seek to serve the needs of the women who come to us, including help with local birth and VBAC issues, providing a safe space to process our birth experiences, and promoting cesarean awareness through events and publicity.
