Once upon a time there was a man who lived in a world of women. It was an unusual place for him to dwell, since he was a man's man, but he was in the best of company. These women "adored" another man named Barry and he was in a quandry. What to do? Embrace this strange subculture or run as fast as he could for the nearest exit. Being the man that he was, he chose to keep an open mind and investigate the "man" behind the phenomena. Surprisingly he found that you don't have to be a woman to appreciate his showmanship. You just have to attend the shows and keep an open mind. And thus he did...and the rest is history. Not only have the women embraced him as one of their own, but he has become a part of this strange subculture of fandom acquiring the nickname of: THE BIGGEST BARRY MANILOW FAN EVER.
With all our love Rob Giese...thanks for the memories and the greatest times of our lives!
One night, last August, I came in contact with another man of unique character and kind sensibility. He too was a husband of rare form and function that had accompanied his wife to the BMIFC convention. He attended the concerts with anticipation, announcing to all that he indeed liked "the man and his music" and spoke of his fondness for the 2:00AM Paradise Cafe album. His kindness and sensitivity exuded as he left the concerts early to circumvent the crowd and secure a seat for his adoring wife and friends at their favorite after show table. Once his wife and other women arrived, he welcomed them with open arms and attentively conversed with them regarding the shows, "the man" and their lives. His sense of humor and kindness are appreciated by all who know him and he indeed is a man to be valued.
Thanks David Roach for "the times of our lives" and for welcoming us into your little corner of Barryland.
I have just read the story of Rob Giese and woulld like to tell you about my husband Chris. Without Chris I don`t think I would have ever seen Barry because none of my friends here are fans. It was Chris who took me to see Barry at
Thanks Chris Woollin for all you do for Sue, and for supporting Barry all these years!
You know I have a hubby just like that, Paul, he dose put up with a lot of Barry and though he wouldnt go and see him, he has always given me so much towards going to a concert, When I saw Barry at the 2nd Blenhiem, Paul paid for the ticket, And when I went to the signing, Though he wasn’t happy with me going, Not because it was to meet Barry, but sleeping out all night in the cold weather, wich I could see where he was coming from, But because I really wanted to go, and Paul know how much it meant to me, That was my Christmas present so he gave £100 for that weekend, And at the moment I have so many video tapes of Barry over the years with all sorts on and together we are putting them on a dvd, so I have to sit there and watch while the tapes copy onto dvd and Paul will sit at the pc for hours at at time edit it and make me a really nice dvd. Paul knows how much I lave Barry, And like you I was in Vegas last September but as we know Barry had just had his hips I didn’t see him, I was so upset and Paul was great, and He's paying for me to go again, Though we really cant afford it, He keeps saying'' your going, your not going to miss out again.” We are the lucky ones who have hubbies that understand our love for Barry, And I think that like you I just love Paul all the more for that.. Manilove, Adele
Thanks Paul Whipp for understanding how much Barry means to your wife and for spending countless hours proving it.
