HAPPY 2009!
It’s been quite awhile since we sent out a Fan Club Update. But it’s a NEW YEAR and we always want to stay in touch with our members and keep them up to date on Fan Club activities, Barry News, and the usual “chatter” in the Manilow world.
Some GREAT things happened in 2008 with our fan club and as a reminder here’s a list:
2008 In Review
Manilow Network
The Manilow Network was born and we set up a group and immediately began attracting new members and connecting with members from all over the world and prepared us for the news that Barry was coming to Canada at last.
Toronto Bash
We had a marvelous time in Toronto at the concert, and then at the After Party at Jack Astors. This was a great boost for the Canadian fans and a chance to get to know one another.
Our Fundraiser/Raffle
We raised $670 for War Child Canada. So many of you participated by giving donations and buying raffle chances and we are grateful, as are the children of those countries affected by war.
New Bylaws
We adopted new bylaws for the fan club and posted them on our website for everyone to read.
Toronto Barry Party
A group of Canadian fans had their first Barry Party and forged friendships that started because of Barry.
October Bash in Las Vegas
Fan club members met in Las Vegas for several days to enjoy the shows, have dinner together, and get to know one another. It was a marvelous time and friendships were deepened and new ones began.
Looking Ahead to 2009
Website Update
We have updated the website again with new photos, games, reviews, polls and birthday announcements. We hope to stay up with the Manilow Hotlines this year and any breaking announcements and articles. So please check back with us often.
2009 Fundraiser
We are working on our fundraiser for 2009. We have the opportunity to purchase some collectible Barry items from a fan who has an extensive collection. While these items are definitely affordable, we would appreciate any monetary help you could provide. If you would prefer to donate collectible items, we would welcome that as well. Please contact Debbie Giese at manilow898@aol.com if you can help. Remember any donation, no matter how small, will help us achieve our goal.
Manilow Network
Please advertise our fan club on the Network when you have the chance. Post a forum discussion or a blog letting others know about our club and our charity.
Chatting
If any of you are interested in scheduling a group chat via AOL one night a week please email us at iamyourchildbmfc@hotmail.com and let us know. Put CHAT in the subject line along with a preferred evening. If we have enough interest we will set a weekly chat up so we can talk to one another, since we are unable to have the chatroom on our website any longer.

Greetings fellow Manilow lovers!
The officers have all compiled new bylaws for our fan club.
We felt it was time to get something “official” down on paper so that everyone
knows our goals and officer responsibilities. It will also help the members
know who to contact if they have a question regarding anything fan club

Our Fan Club Bash is just around the corner. If you are

There is still time to donate to this raffle and possibly
win some really great prizes. For your convenience, we are emailing you in a
separate email a form to print, fill out, and mail with your donation. Click here

donated so far and those who have donated prizes. We couldn’t do this without
your support.
Our website administrator is making every effort to update
the website often. All Hotline Messages will be posted there and any recent
Barry News will be as well. There will be current news about our Charity that
will be of interest to all of you. We will be adding new photos and slideshows
soon. Check often for updates and added features.

network and join if you haven’t already. Here you will find other fan club
members to add to your friends list and socialize with. Please get to know one
another and take advantage of this wonderful network as a tool to develop
friendships.

What is planned for 2008?

Updated
After over 3 months of being
stagnant, the website has been updated with new slideshows, pictures, polls,
reviews and the results of the latest contests. We are also highlighting the
charity on the home page so that everyone can get more acquainted with War Child
Canada and what they do. So
if you haven’t been there in awhile, drop by and take a look.
Fan Club
Bash
We have set a tentative date for the
Bash for October of this year. We are looking at the end of the month. If you
are interested (and it won’t be set in stone) please fill out the form on the
website so we can get an idea of who might be coming.

Our first year of fundraisers was a
HUGE success. This year, we would like to hear from you if you have any ideas on
how to raise money for our charity. Just email us at our fan club email and put
FUNDRAISER IDEA in the subject line. We would love any and all

Room
The chat room is back up after being
removed. So stop by and see if anyone is there. We still have scheduled chat
times, and we try and have someone in there usually. You can see the times on
the chat room page.

We are looking for new members all
the time. If you know someone that might be interested, please send them to our
website where they can find the information they need to join.
The Barrynet
Message Board
We need everyone’s help here. If you
are posting on the message board, put a plug in for our fan club. Highlight some
of things on our website and invite people to join. It’s a team effort here and
we need your help. Let’s keep our fan club name out there for all the new people
that come on board every day. You can direct them to the link on the local fan
club tab on the Barrynet. Thanks for you help with this!
