The Official Bylaws for

 I Am Your Child-BMFC Manilow Canada Fan Club

Article I.  Purpose of the Fan Club

The purpose of the I Am Your Child-BMFC Manilow Canada Fan Club (hereafter referred to as the Fan Club) is to honor Barry Manilow by celebrating together his many talents and by actively supporting the charitable organizations which he endorses.

Article II.  Charitable Works of the Fan Club

The Fan Club supports War Child Canada. From time to time, members will be invited to participate in fund raising activities to benefit charities that Mr. Manilow supports.  Participation in these events is strictly optional.

Article III.  Membership

Fan Club shall have a minimum of 25 members. These charter members plus all club officers must also be members of the BMIFC and continue to have a current membership. Membership in the Fan Club shall be available to any person without regard to race, creed, sex, national origin, or political persuasion. While membership in the BMIFC is recommended, it is not necessary for membership in the fan club.

Article IV.  Rules of Conduct of Fan Club and its Members

Membership in the Fan Club requires that member’s exhibit good conduct, and act in a professional and courteous manner at all times. This includes Fan Club gatherings, events, chat sessions, etc. Under no circumstance will any member act in such a manner as to cause embarrassment to any other Fan Club member or to Mr.  Manilow.  Members have the privilege to uphold and support the aims, principles, and purposes of the Fan Club.

Fan Club members wearing Fan Club clothing/memorabilia or presenting themselves as Fan Club members in any public place shall not act in such a manner that would negatively reflect on the Fan Club or Mr.  Manilow.

No member, at any time, may act on behalf of the Fan Club, or sign any commitment binding on the Fan Club without authority from the Fan Club Officers

The Fan Club is prohibited from answering letters on Mr. Manilow’s behalf.  

The Fan Club is prohibited from pretending to offer the official word regarding Mr. Manilow, his plans, or his career.


Article V.  Fan Club Officer Meetings

The Fan Club shall hold monthly meetings of its officers, at a date, time and location to be announced. Due to geographic location of the officer, the meeting will be held via chat room on the internet. Attendance at these meetings is strictly optional but recommended.  The main purpose for a Fan Club meeting is to cover any issues that arose since the last meeting, potential activities, fundraiser idea/progress, etc. At these meetings topics to be covered in the monthly email newsletter will be discussed and finalized.

Article VI.  Officer Roles and Responsibilities

The Fan Club will have the following officers:  Founder/Director, Fundraiser Coordinator, Public Relations Liaison, and News Coordinator.

The following is a list of their Roles and Responsibilities with respect to the Fan Club:    

            Founder/Director (Allayne Pelletier)

The Fan Club Founder/Director has ultimate approval of decisions that are made with regard to the Fan Club or any matter which even peripherally concerns it, including, but not limited to, what is posted on the Fan Club website, the monthly newsletters/bulletins, chatrooms, Fan Club gatherings and fund-raising activities.

The Fan Club President has the sole and final say in what constitutes “professional and courteous behavior,” should there ever be a dispute as to the meaning of this term.

The Fan Club President will be the point of contact regarding any complaints or suggestions related to the fan club or to the fan club website.

            Fundraiser Coordinator (Debbie Giese)

The Fundraiser Coordinator will hold an annual fundraising event for War Child and be responsible for collecting donations for the fundraiser and fundraiser packages, maintaining accurate records, and providing the officers with a report regarding the final results of the fundraiser.

The Fundraiser Coordinator will provide each person donating with an email confirming receipt of said donation and a form that can be used as a tax receipt if requested.

            Public Relations Liaison (Kimmaree deMarco)

The Public Relations Liaison is responsible for advertising and promoting all fan club events and fundraisers on the Manilow Network and the Barrynet Message Board.

The Public Relations Liaison is responsible for all communications related to charity donations received from members and non-members that are not fundraiser related; including corporate donations, individual donations and donations made through the fan club website.

            News Coordinator (Linda Madden)

The Fan Club News Coordinator will find out everything new referring to Mr. Manilow, items of interest also relating to Mr. Manilow and our fanclub in some way.  

As news/items are gathered, the News Coordinator will send an email to iamyourchildbmfc@hotmail.com to be posted on the website by our website administrator.

The Fan Club News Coordinator will also collect all Hotline Messages and forward to the fan club email account to be posted on the website by the website administrator.

All Officers

Fundraisers/Raffles    

All officers are expected to set an example by supporting the fundraiser either financially or with a prize donation for the raffles. No officer will be placed in the drawing for prizes, since this would be unethical and unfair to participants.

Joint Responsibilities

All officers are recommended and encouraged to: help other officers as needed and participate in promoting all events and fundraisers if it appears there has not been a notice or post about an event or fundraiser on our usual sites recently.

Article VII.  Termination of Member of Board of Directors:

 
Any officer may resign from office at any time by delivering a written notice of resignation to the Founder/Director of the Fan Club.  The acceptance of such resignation shall not be necessary to make the resignation effective.


Article VIII.  Causes for Corrective Actions and/or Dismissal of Fan Club Members

Members of the Fan Club are expected to comply with both the letter and spirit of these Bylaws.  The Fan Club has the right to suspend or dismiss any member from the Fan Club who cannot or does not abide by these Bylaws.  

The following actions will cause immediate dismissal from the fan club, at the sole discretion of the Fan Club President:

  • Anyone publicly slandering the Fan Club, any of its members, or Mr. Manilow; and/or
  • Anyone sending written communication of a harassing nature to any Fan Club member or about any Fan Club member, or to Mr. Manilow or about Mr. Manilow, or about any of the charities supported by Mr. Manilow or the Fan Club.

Article IX. Sanctioning

The fan club is sanctioned on January 1st each year for twelve months. The BMIFC requires an update in order to sanction the club annually. The following items/documentation is required (annually) and must be sent to BMIFC to be an “approved local club”:

  • List of current members (with their current BMIFC membership numbers and addresses)
  • Three issues of a Newsletter/Bulletin
  • A list of officers
  • Any other pertinent information


Article X.  Reservation of Rights

The official I Am Your Child-BMFC Manilow Canada Fan Club reserves the right to change or amend these Bylaws at any time.
