I Am Your Child BMFC-Manilow Canada

a Barry Manilow fan club without borders

....We Haven't Met Yet

Thanks to the "brilliant" minds of our fan club members, we are pleased to begin this page. Hopefully as the year progresses, there will be many more stories of how Barry has brought us together as friends.

If you have a story and pictures (we love pictures) please email me at liberty2@msn.com and we'll post it here for everyone to see! Barry's music really does bring people together and what a great way to celebrate those moments on our fan club website.

Kim and Suzanne meet at the October Bash

Kim DeMarco and I (Suzanne) had been planning this trip for over a year. We initially met online when Allayne and I were working on the scrapbook. Our friendship grew and we began dreaming of a time when Kim might come to Vegas and see Barry and we could meet. Plans were made and the countdown began at the beginning of 2008! And it finally arrived. On October 20th we finally met at the Las Vegas International Airport and spent 7 fabulous days (and nights) getting to know each other and enjoying Las Vegas, meeting new friends, attending Barry's shows, and the Bash activities. Who knew in 2006 that the day would finally come that we would meet. It's a testament to something Barry says, "never give up on your dreams!"

Toronto Barry Party

Here are a few pictures of my "First Barry Party" held on Friday October l0th, 2008.
We had a blast together!  We watched on our big screen, surround sound projection TV, "Manilow Live" and half of "First & Farewell".  Instead of wearing "yellow feathers in our hair", we wore "yellow flowers in our hair".  We had a wonderful night, sharing our fun and laughter together.  Barry looked so good, on the 7 foot wide by 5 feet high screen!  It was an "Up Close and Personal" evening, with our guy!

Notes from the Getting to Know You Gift Exchange

,,,from Adele Whipp

I was in the hospital last week after surgery I came home on Thursday. And My hubby told me I had a parcel from the USA, I asked was it from any of my friends I have over there. When He told me no, it's from  someone named Tara. I said but I dont know any one of that name. And thought it was sent to the wrong house. But when I opened it, I was so amazed not just that someone had taken so much trouble to send such lovely gifts from there home town to some one that they didnt know, but it came when I really needed cheering up. Thats the wounderful world of MANILOW RIGHT.
So Once again I would love to thank Tara King and would love to keep in touch.

Allayne and Suzanne meet in Winnipeg

I just returned from a week with Allayne in Winnipeg. We had a great time watching Barry DVD's every single night (and sometimes during the day), sightseeing around the city, going to a movie, eating at some fine dining establishments and meeting all of Allayne's family and great friends. We spent some time strategizing about the fan club as well and getting to know one another. The highlight of my visit was an evening at a piano bar at the historic Ft. Garry Hotel, where we were able to chat with the singer and tip the piano player. After telling him that Barry said to "always tip the piano player", he said, "well Barry would know. He's one of the greats!"

We met on the Barrynet last August and began working on the scrapbook together, then the fan club, and were finally able to meet in person. Here's a picture collage of my trip to Canada! Thanks Barry for bringing us together!

Suzanne in Winnipeg

Having Suzanne come to Winnipeg was very exciting. She was able to see we don't live in a deep freeze and there wasn't an igloo in sight!

The time went by very fast a week was not enough to see and do everything. Having Suzanne meet my family was a great moment for me.  My family is very supportive of me and my friends and what we do.

Of course being able to watch Barry's DVD's with another fan was a special treat.

One of the highlights for me as well was the piano bar at the Fort Garry hotel,  When Suzanne asked the piano player about playing Barry music, he said give me five songs and he apparently knew them all, plus others. He played some Copa for us, it was a very exciting night!

Then before I knew it the time came to say Bon Voyage,  until next time when we meet in Vegas!

IAYC Fan Club Members Meet in Vegas

This past week, we had a wonderful time in Vegas getting to know one another and of course, seeing Barry. We spent the evenings with Barry, the days with new friends, and the late nights at Tempo partying until it closed. Some new friendships were formed and some cyber ones were solidified after meeting in person for the first time. We celebrated birthdays and chatted about "our man". All in all, it was a week to remember! Here are some pictures of our luncheon. Thanks to everyone for a great time and an amazing week!

Vegas Get Together During Convention

The day started as all of the others (tired and red eyes - from the dry weather, nothing else), but it was even harder to get out of bed. After three nights of Barry, Saturday morning - I was tired. We left word with the hostess at the front to show anyone else to our table in the corner. With the shows and Barry’s energy plus all of the activities, I was unsure of how many would be up at that time of morning.

At my table, there was Dawn Good friend, Mary Jo Martin, Kathy Reno and myself. A few other ladies joined us (Sharon Tanner, Judy Lidgett, Linda Kloeppner) and a few others, there was a group of about ten. I am so sorry that I did not get everyone’s name down.

The breakfast was delicious, and the portions are HUGE. You order breakfast, lunch or dinner for that matter, and you better be hungry.

Everyone talked about where they were from, and our seat locations. After comparing notes about what we saw and what we missed, we looked forward to the Q & A because we just knew (well hoped) that Barry would show with Garry.

Sharon (our unofficial official photographer) snapped pictures all around. It was so wonderful to put faces with the names that I have seen on B Net and the fan club site. The amazing thing is that when you meet, it feels like you are meeting an old friend that you just haven’t seen in a while. People that are not on the internet really don’t understand, but we do.

There were some faces missing from the breakfast, but I know that it was due to way too much partying (smile) - Debbie Giese and Donna Ruberti were at the shows, however, did not make the breakfast. Both ladies are wonderful, and if you ever get a chance to meet them, you will know exactly what I mean.

I wish there was more opportunities for us to gather together, but Vicki and the crew kept us busy. I look forward to the convention next year. I think it will be even more enjoyable - if that is at all possible.

Below are some pictures of our breakfast meeting.
I am at the table for four in the lime green.  I am closest to the wall, to my right is Dawn Goodfriend, across from her is Mary Jo Martin and to her right is Kathy Reno.
