This review is from Tammy Martorana. Thanks Tammy!
The
show in Atlanta was AWESOME!!!!!!!! (Of course, why wouldn't it
be??!!)
Brian Culbertson and his crew were great too! I LOVE
jazz music, so this was right up my ally. The guy from Earth Wind and Fire was
so funny, his expressions were priceless. And the saxophone player, Michael was
an outstanding player! They got me all warmed up and ready for Barry! Barry
started out with his regular Gonzo Medley and also did Ready to Take A Chance
Again. His play on words was so funny talking about the movie Foul
Play. Weekend in New England was wonderful. He also did Even Now. Those two
are some of my favorites. I got so emotional listening to I Made it Through The
Rain and hearing Barry's story about his grandpa. I don't know why, it just
really struck me this time and I have heard that story a million times I am
sure. Barry also did my favorite, Could it be Magic. I got chills just
listening to him sing and play. I was so caught up in the music that I lost all
track of time and even where I was. I know that might seem funny, but I am sure
you understand.
Barry was having problems with his voice a little and
getting his mix right in his in-ear-monitors. But you almost couldn't tell that
he was losing his voice. I am sure that the damp rainy weather didn't help
things at all. He also got so caught up in one of the songs that he lost his
place, either that or he couldn't hear the music. But being a singer, I noticed
those things, most probably did not.
Barry was loads of fun, very energetic, the whole show
was wonderful. The only complaint that I have is the two girls sitting next to
me did nothing but TALK through the WHOLE show. And they talked loud. I
wondered why they spent that kind of money to talk through his singing. I just
tuned them out and enjoyed Barry. Old Friends was great too. He also sang I am
Your Child and did his trek through the decades. It was funny when he said that
seriously the only drug he takes is Lipitor. I am sure that I have heard that
before, but it really struck me funny this time. He had some great facial
expressions and he seemed to really be enjoying himself and feeling
good!
I
guess each time we see him, even though we have seen him do many of the songs
several times, each time is different and it strikes us different, depending on
the song, Barry's mood, our mood, etc. There is never a song or show that is
boring or just borderline.
I
met a few new people, Carol and Gloria, and had loads of fun. But I was totally
caught up in the Land of Barry, so I have no clue what others may have been
doing around me. All in all, it was a good night. Of course any night with
Barry is a good night. I got some good pics, so as soon as I get the time, I
will share them with you. He looked great, it was also great to see him jump
back on the piano again. Even though I had to travel 3 1/2 hrs to see him, I
would do it again, and will do it again.
I
can't wait to see him again in May and hopefully in October.
