The following picture is our LD2020Q (shortened 20 meter QRP antenna).
I personally enjoy operating QRP from the primary station as well as running QRP portable. Here is my equipment and how I transport the QRP package when operating portable.
My rig is an Icom IC703 Plus, Bencher CW paddles ,coax is a 35 foot length of RG8X, antenna is the LD2020Q, and the DC power comes from a 7 amp hour battery. My carrying case is nothing more than a blue nylon insulated lunch pouch from Wal-Mart. The entire package can be all placed in the pouch and this includes a 250 foot spool of nylon string, pencil and paper. There is still enough room left over to put the 2B1040Q in the same pouch. The entire package is compact and very easy to carry.
When operating portable, here is how I set up my station. I first look for a tree. It does not
have to be a very high tree. The last time I installed the antenna it was installed as a sloper. One
end was about 14 feet in the air and the other end was tied to a stake in the ground. The coax was
then run to the rig and I was on the air. How simple can it be? You can probably do this in your
back yard and have the rig on a picnic table!
