Stitching on Cardstock or Paper to make Greeting Cards

Making cards using your embroidery machine is so fun and easy! The cards for sale at Hyfi's House are digitized specifically to stitch out on cardstock. I cannot guarantee the quality of the card if you use any other design not digitized for cardstock.

I recommend you use cut away stabilizer for your backing. All you need to do is hoop the stabilizer and lay the cardstock cut to size on top and start stitching. I gluee my stitched piece on the actual card and add a few more decorative touches and it looks fantastic!

My tester advises that if your machine trims between colors, to shut that feature off. The designs will come out much better!

Tips from our members!!!

Phylly writes:

"Use a thread stand and get a needle inserter..the needle inserter helps you make sure that the needle is all the way inserted and straight."

Bev gave this advice:

"Learn everything you can about how to do proper placement of designs on your garments, and fabric."

jncats12 has a couple of tips:

"Use small hair clips that hairdressers use -to hold excess material out of the way when embroidering."

"Use 1 inch strips of the rubbery type shelf liner on each side of the embroidery hoop to keep material (especially slick or lightweight) from slipping."

and from Jane:

"Don't let your mistakes bother you, we learn from our mistakes.  It would be boring if I had projects done on time or early.."
