The Hudson Valley Wargamers Association - Mid-Hudson Chapter is a miniatures wargaming club that meets at least once a month on Saturdays. Most of our gamers live in the greater Newburgh, NY area. We have a membership of approximately 10 and are looking to expand. There is no clubhouse or dedicated gaming location; we rotate games at different member's houses. During each meeting we collect dues, a couple of bucks, which is used to buy "club" miniatures and terrain. Lately our interests and gaming activities center around staging battles fought during WWII and French & Indian Wars.

Most of our games are played with a homegrown set of rules that focuses on fast action and ease of play. We have also decided to try out a set of rules called Trench Wars for our future WWI battles, once everyone has painted enough Brits, Germans and French. There is even a Warhammer Ancient Battles player amongst the ranks.

The HV Wargamers only battle with fully painted and based miniatures. The club's preferred scale is 25mm because the models are very detailed and readily available from a wide range of manufacturers. Many members have sizable collections of minis that are pooled in order to stage huge challenging events. In addition, there is a large inventory of terrain available to populate the game table with trees, hills, redoubts, bombed out buildings and a bunch of other stuff. Take a look at some of the pictures of our games on this website. Our games are really spectacular, using hundreds of miniatures on a large table filled with great terrain.

In closing, wargaming isn't about winning or losing. Wargaming is about having fun while re-fighting everything from epic battles to minor skirmishes with friends who have similar interests. People who are only interested in winning by any means need not apply.

So, do you have an interest in Military History?

Would you like to recreate the battles that were fought in the past?
