Another season draws to an end, another disappointing final for Huron...
My apologies for the lack of updates since midseason. I've been remiss.
Huron made it through the regular season with an unblemished record yet again, going 11-0. In the first round of playoffs, Huron faced off against Steelhead in a rematch from the week before. Huron gained control early in this one, finishing out the semi-final game 13-5, led by a strong performance by the Hoose himself.
Coopers advanced over Buckleys to join Huron in the league final on Sunday. Huron watched an early lead transform into an 8-4 score in favor of Coopers, as the men in maroon dominated ground balls during the first half, scoring on several fast break opportunities. The second half had a much different feel, as Huron swarmed to ground balls and began to claw their way back, coming as close as 9-8 with physical play and Hoose "The Rhino" leading the charge. Several shots came off of pipe and the Coopers keeper and defense had many deflections and great saves in the second half. Momentum felt like it was swinging in the second half, but when the final whistle blew, the final score was 10-9, Coopers over Huron.
Congratulations to Coopers on a hard-fought victory - we always enjoy playing you guys and hope to see you again in the finals next year!
Final season stats are posted, hope to see some of you guys in summer league!
