HUNTWOOD & MAX-WELL Norfolk and Norwich Terriers
Since the beginning of AKC recognition of the breed in 1979, Max-Well has been consistent producer of top winning Norfolk Terriers in America. Barbara Miller's Max-Well prefix was on the first Norfolk Terrier Champion of record in the United States. Max-Well's O'Henry. To date, Max-Well has produced over 100 Norfolk Terrier champions. Susan Kipp became the sole handeler of Barbara's Norfolks and fell in love with the breed and began to co-breed along with her. Susan diversified and began to breed Norwich Terriers under her own Huntwood prefix. She currently has produced two multiple Best In Show winning Norwich Terriers. Max-Well has produced 10 Best In Show winning Norfolks. Winning over 120 total Best In Shows. The reputation of the line is world reknowned as Max-Well Norfolks have been placed in various different countries such as Japan, Finland, Columbia and Sweden.
The success achieved in the show ring is secondary to the success of their breeding lines. Health and temperament are the primary concern of the lines. Barbara and Susan carefully plot out each breeding, examining how the predigrees of the sire and dam fit together to produce the best possible puppies.
As Barbara says, "A breeding program is like a child. You conceive it, give birth to it, protect it, watch it grow, guide it, and set up goals - but above all - are proud of it." This philosopy is shared between the two as they care for their dogs as their own children, making sure they are raised in a loving environment.
