An Annual Fundraiser Assisting Sighthounds

Who are we?

                                  

 

Hugs for Hounds is a fundraiser held to assist Sighthound Rescues to raise funds.  We supply the venue for each individual group to raise funds for by holding raffles, having silent auctions or selling products. 

This is a two day event held 10 minutes from Kitchener-Waterloo.

How it works!

This year Hugs for Hounds is opening its venue to all Sighthound Rescues/Groups!  Here is a simplified explaination how it works!

1/  Each group will be responsible for its own raffles and/or silent auctions.

2/  Each group will be allowed to sell products at their table to raise funds for their own group.

3/  Each group will pay a very small 'rental' fee for their booth which will cover rental of 2 days if needed.

Where does the money go?

Many have wondered where the registration fees  and all monies brought in by entry fees, raffles and silent auctions held by HUGS FOR HOUNDS goes to.  This is also where the funds from the HUGS FOR HOUNDS booth goes. 

1/  Vendor licence fee:  This is purchased from the Township to cover all vendors at the event.

2/  Hall/Venue Rental:  The club generously rents it's whole property to us for the full 2 days.  Because this is a gun club its members
     are told there can be absolutely NO shooting this weekend.

3/  Food:  Although the meat for the BBQ is sold to us at a discounted rate it still has to be paid for. 
     If we cannot get buns,  drinks and  condiments donated they must be purchased also.

4/  Buffet:  Everyone that has participated has found it a greyt way to relax after a busy, busy day.  And the hounds  appreciate it too! 

5/  Not all prizes are donated and many are purchased with monies from the HUGS FOR HOUNDS account.

6/  All printing of the information booklet and the flyers is very generously donated but office supplies still need
     to be  purchased for the smaller printing jobs.  (food tickets, name tags, etc.)

8/ Goodie Bags

AFTER all of this is paid for any/all monies left over will be divided up between the Rescues/Groups that have joined us
for the weekend.  IF you want to be sure any money from any item you may donate is given to a certain group PLEASE
give it to them to raffle at their booth.  DO NOT give it to HUGS FOR HOUNDS!

If you would like to donate an item to help fund this event please donate it to HUGS FOR HOUNDS.

NO money from the HUGS FOR HOUNDS account is used for personal use.   I hope this answers any questions or concerns
anyone has.  My husband, myself and our grandchildren gladly volunteer our time and do whatever is needed to make this event happen and hopefully make it a success!

A few simple rules

1/  All none-aggressive dogs are welcome.

2/  ALL dogs must be leashed at all times.

3/  NO RETRACTABLE LEADS!!!

FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL SMALL DOGS THE FOLLOWING RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED.

1/  ABSOLUTELY NO SMALL DOGS ARE TO BE PLACED IN THE GREYHOUND RUN! 
      Many greyhounds have a high prey drive and may chase the smaller breeds
      - not out of aggression but because that is what they are bred to do!

2/  ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS OTHER THAN GREYHOUNDS IN THE GREYHOUND RUN! 
     There will be another area designated for your pup to play in.

3/  ALL SMALL DOGS MUST BE HELD IN THE VENDOR AREA and not allowed to walk
      on the floor.  This is for the safety of all pets.  Many greys have a very high prey
      drive and will try to get the little furry thing!  PLEASE REMEMBER - this is NOT
      aggression - it is 100's of years of training!  Just as a Border Collie 'herds' his family
      a grey likes to 'chase'.

RULES FOR THE GREYHOUNDS IN THE GREYHOUND RUN

1/  ALL GREYHOUNDS MUST BE MUZZLED. 
      If you do not have one you can perhaps borrow one or you can purchase
      one from   The House of Earl   booth.
