eveything you need to know about Resident Evil

resident evil:DS

For the Resident Evil series' 10th anniversary, Capcom has announced yet another remake of the game that started it all back in 1996. This time, the remake is headed to the Nintendo DS as Resident Evil: Deadly Silence.

There are a number of changes in Resident Evil: DS from the original game, such as new puzzles/areas and even new gameplay mechanics. The game will use the top screen to show your maps and any other useful information while the gameplay will be centered around the bottom screen.

The Nintendo DS' touch screen also is made use of in this game for both puzzles and gameplay. One major gameplay addition that uses the touch screen is a first-person knife battle, which will be triggered when you pass through doors that have enemies right on the other side.

At this time, the bottom screen will switch to a first-person view where you will have to use the touch screen to defend yourself by attacking enemies with your knife. No official release date has yet been announced for Resident Evil: DS, but it is expected sometime in 2006.

Not too many screenshots have yet been made public, but below are a few early shots of Resident Evil: DS in action.
