Normal Enemies:

 Zombie

Description: The basic offspring of the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Easy
Appearance: Common
Recommended Weapon(s): Handgun
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun
While almost every weapon (with the exception of the Knife) is good against a Zombie, the Handgun is the ideal weapon to use. It will down a Zombie in just 3-5 shots, or a single shot if you aim up with the Shotgun when one is in close range. A Zombie will not only attack while they are standing, but even while they are on the ground. They may move slowly, but can deal a decent amount of damage, and are usually found in larger numbers. Do not take them lightly.

 Cerberus

Description: A canine infected with the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Normal
Appearance: Not Too Common
Recommended Weapon(s): Handgun
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun
Like the Zombie, a Cerberus can easily be killed using a Handgun, or any other weapon except the knife. After firing at it a few times, it will fall on the ground, but it will still get back up unless you shoot it a few more times. Cerberuses are very agile in running, jumping, and attacking, so they can deal damage quickly. Shooting it while it is in mid-jump will cause more damage to it.

 Leech

Description: A leech infected with the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Very Easy
Appearance: Rare
Recommended Weapon(s): None
Backup Weapon(s): None
Leeches don't appear very often in the game, but they aren't a real challenge. Shooting them is a waste of time, since they are usually found in larger groups and are hard to hit. The best way to confront leeches are either to simply run away and avoid them, or step on them to kill them.

 Humanoid Leech

Description: Leeches combined to form a human shape.
Difficulty: Hard
Appearance: Fairly Common
Recommended Weapon(s): Molotov Cocktails
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun
When enough T-Virus infected Leeches come together, they can form and mimic a human. Humanoid Leeches can be quite difficult to face if you don't have any Molotov Cocktails. However, if you do, they aren't too hard to kill. Putting these enemies down can be very risky using any other weapon, since they can deal a large amont of damage, so running and doing your best to avoid their attacks is the safest option.

 Crow

Description: A large, T-Virus infected crow.
Difficulty: Easy
Appearance: Common
Recommended Weapon(s): Handgun
Backup Weapon(s): None
Crows can easily be taken out with the Handgun, or any other weapon that isn't slow, although they can be quite hard to hit using any weapon. Crows can deal a large amount of damage when they attack in groups, which they usually do. To be safe, it's best to run past Crows as quickly as possible when you encounter them.

 Plague Crawler

Description: An insect mutated by the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Hard
Appearance: Not Too Common
Recommended Weapon(s): Shotgun
Backup Weapon(s): Grenade Launcher
Plague Crawlers can deal a large amount of damage to you if you aren't careful. The Shotgun is by far the best weapon to use when going up against one. Since Plague Crawlers usually attack in groups or two or more, a Shotgun blast will hit and knock down more than one at a time, giving you an opportunity to safely finish them off.

 Webspinner

Description: A poisonous, T-Virus infected arachnid.
Difficulty: Hard
Appearance: Not Too Common
Recommended Weapon(s): Grenade Launcher
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun, Magnum
You'll mainly encounter Webspinners in narrow places, attacking in groups of 2 or more. Firing the Shotgun or Handgun at them will not be enough to take them out, but a Grenade Launcher and anything more powerful will do the trick. Webspinners can deal a lot of damage to you or even poison you, so they should be dealt with quick enough to avoid taking much damage.

 Eliminator

Description: A monkey mutated by the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Hard
Appearance: Fairly Common
Recommended Weapon(s): Grenade Launcher
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun
Eliminators are very tough to get by. They usually attack in large groups, while being both fast and deadly. The best weapon to use against the Eliminators is either the Shotgun or the Grenade Launcher, even though that is barely enough to stay safe. If you're low on ammo or health items, the best thing to do is to run and don't look back.

 Hunter

Description: A strange reptile-like B.O.W.
Difficulty: Hard
Appearance: Fairly Common
Recommended Weapon(s): Magnum
Backup Weapon(s): Grenade Launcher, Shotgun
Hunters are one of the most dangerous enemies in the game. They won't strike until you are on their sight, and can quickly deal a considerable amount of damage. In some cases, a Hunter may be able to perform a one-hit kill on you. A powerful weapon like the Magnum or Grenade Launcher works best on Hunters, however, using Shotgun blasts to knock them down also works well.

 Bat

Description: Abnormally large bats.
Difficulty: Easy
Appearance: Rare
Recommended Weapon(s): Handgun
Backup Weapon(s): None
These large Bats hang from the ceiling silently until disturbed. Though they are fairly hard to hit, it doesn't take much to kill one. Using any weapon stronger than the Handgun is worthless, but it's better to run than to waste ammo for any weapon.

 Lurker

Description: A large frog mutated by the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Very Easy
Appearance: Rare
Recommended Weapon(s): Knife
Backup Weapon(s): Handgun
The Lurker appears only in the Treatment Facility when you are in a room for a long amount of time. Lurkers only come up for food, but will flee at the first sign of danger. They can be instantly killed with the Knife and easily killed with a Handgun, although attacking one will usually cause it to flee.

Other Enemies:

 Edward Dewey

Description: A S.T.A.R.S. member turned Zombie.
Difficulty: Easy
Appearance: One Time Only
Recommended Weapon(s): Handgun
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun
A normal zombie, except he used to be S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team member Edward Dewey. Fire a few Handgun rounds at it, or blast its head off using the Shotgun as you would any other zombie in the game.

Boss Enemies:

 Stinger

Description: A very large scorpion.
Difficulty: Easy
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): Hunting Gun
Backup Weapon(s): Handgun
There's not much strategy involved in defeating this boss. Use your Hunting Gun to fire at its head when it is in close range, but reload after every shot. Reloading in-game takes enough time for the Stringer to attack you and deal damage. If you run out of Shotgun Shells, take out the Handgun and keep firing away.

 Centurion

Description: A large, mutated centipede.
Difficulty: Normal
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): Grenade Launcher
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun
At the beginning of this battle, you take control of BIlly when the Centurion grabs hold of Rebecca and starts to circle around the room. The only time you can damage this boss is when it lifts the front part of it's body off the ground in preparation to attack. At this time, use the Grenade Launcher or Shotgun to damage it. Repeat this until it drops Rebecca and the battle ends.

 Giant Bat

Description: A large bat mutated by the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Normal
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): Grenade Launcher
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun
The Giant Bat will swoop around the room while summoning smaller bats to attack you. Remain near the door and hold your ground. Once the Bat comes into view, fire a Napalm Grenade at it. If you run out of Grenades, simply blast it with the Shotgun instead. Continue to avoid the smaller Bats while firing at the Bat whenever you can until the battle is over.

 Proto-Tyrant

Description: An Umbrella prototype B.O.W.
Difficulty: Normal
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): Magnum
Backup Weapon(s): Molotov Cocktails, Shotgun
During the first encounter with the Proto-Tyrant, you can only control Rebecca, but in either case, the best strategy is to keep running around the room until you get a clear shot at it from behind, which will cause more damage than a regular shot. Occasionally, the Proto-Tyrant will jump at you while slashing. Counter this simply by running out of its path and quickly getting a shot in. Keep this pattern going until you finish it off.

 Queen Leech (Form 1)

Description: The mother Leech in humanoid form.
Difficulty: Hard
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): Magnum, Shotgun
Backup Weapon(s): Grenade Launcher
A lot of teamwork is required to defeat the first form of the Queen Leech. Split Billy and Rebecca up to attack from both sides of the monster, quickly inflicting a decent amount of damage to it. Repeat this strategy while avoiding all of its attacks. The Grenade Launcher should be used if either character runs out of ammo. After injuring it enough, the Queen Leech will begin to transform into it's second form..

 Queen Leech (Form 2)

Description: The second form of the mother Leech.
Difficulty: Hard
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): Magnum, Shotgun
Backup Weapon(s): Grenade Launcher
The second form of the Queen Leech gets fairly difficult, since more than just shooting is required to defeat it. At the beginning of the battle, follow the same strategy as the first form, until Billy and Rebecca figure out that sunlight can hurt the monster. Rebecca must turn each of the four valves in the room, taking about 30 seconds each, while Billy protects her and distracts the Queen Leech. If Rebecca is attacked while turning a valve, she will have to start that valve over. Once all four valves have been turned, the battle is over, as well as the game.

resident evil 1

Normal Enemies:

 Zombie

Description: The basic offspring of the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Normal
Appearance: Common
Recommended Weapon(s): Handgun
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun
While almost every weapon (with the exception of the Knife) is good against a Zombie, the Handgun is the ideal weapon to use. It will down a Zombie in just 3-5 shots, or a single shot if you aim up with the Shotgun when one is in close range. A Zombie will not only attack while they are standing, but even while they are on the ground. They may move slowly, but can deal a decent amount of damage, and are usually found in larger numbers. Do not take them lightly.

 Crimson Head

Description: A further mutated Zombie.
Difficulty: Hard
Appearance: Common
Recommended Weapon(s): Shotgun
Backup Weapon(s): Grenade Launcher
After killing a Zombie, it will undergo a transformation and eventually get back up as a much stronger monster. Crimson Heads are both fast and deadly. Using a Handgun when going up against one is practically asking for a quick death. Using a more powerful weapon like the Shotgun, Grenade Launcher, or even the Magnum works best if you don't want to take the risk of running past it.

 Cerberus

Description: A canine infected with the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Normal
Appearance: Common
Recommended Weapon(s): Handgun
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun
Like the Zombie, a Cerberus can easily be killed using a Handgun, or any other weapon except the knife. After firing at it a few times, it will fall on the ground, but it will still get back up unless you shoot it a few more times. Cerberuses are very agile in running, jumping, and attacking, so they can deal damage quickly. Shooting it while it is in mid-jump will cause more damage to it.

 Wasp

Description: A normal wasp infected with the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Very Easy
Appearance: Rare
Recommended Weapon(s): None
Backup Weapon(s): None
Wasps only appear in one area of the game, a single corridor in the Guardhouse. They are nearly harmless when they attack you, but get annoying after a while. You can kill a Wasp with pretty much any weapon, although running right by them is much easier.

 Webspinner

Description: A poisonous, T-Virus infected arachnid.
Difficulty: Hard
Appearance: Fairly Common
Recommended Weapon(s): Grenade Launcher
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun, Magnum
You'll mainly encounter Webspinners in narrow places, attacking in groups of 2 or more. Firing the Shotgun or Handgun at them will not be enough to take them out, but a Grenade Launcher and anything more powerful will do the trick. Webspinners can deal a lot of damage to you or even poison you, so they should be dealt with quick enough to avoid taking much damage.

 Snakes

Description: Small, poisonous snakes.
Difficulty: Very Easy
Appearance: Rare
Recommended Weapon(s): None
Backup Weapon(s): None
You thankfully only encounter Snakes in a single area throughout the course of the game. Trying to kill one will do you more harm than good, seeing as though you will be poisoned if they manage to bite you. The best way to deal with Snakes is to run and don't stop until you're clear of them, because even stopping for a second is enough for one to get a quick bite in.

 Neptune

Description: A large shark infected with the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Easy
Appearance: One Time Only
Recommended Weapon(s): None
Backup Weapon(s): None
You encounter Neptunes only in the flooded basement of the Guardhouse. At that point, you cannot kill or even harm the sharks. While traveling through the room, you must do your best to not stop for any reason, since there are two of them in the room who will not hesitate to attack you. Once the water in the basement is drained, the sharks are completely harmless and could be killed using any weapon.

 Chimera

Description: A dangerous experimental B.O.W.
Difficulty: Hard
Appearance: Rare
Recommended Weapon(s): Magnum
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun
Chimeras are found only in the Generator Rooms of the Laboratory. They will attack you from both the floor and the ceiling with speed and power. The Magnum is the only effective weapon to use against the Chimeras without taking much damage. If you do not have any ammo for it, the Shotgun is the next best thing to use because of it's wide blast radius.

Other Enemies:

 Forest Speyer

Description: A S.T.A.R.S. member turned Zombie.
Difficulty: Easy
Appearance: One Time Only
Recommended Weapon(s): Shotgun, Grenade Launcher
Backup Weapon(s): Handgun
Forest is pretty much a normal zombie, except a lot faster and stronger. The Shotgun, providing you have one, or the Grenade Launcher, found in the very same room as this enemy, work well to down him quickly. Using the Handgun is quite risky, since Forest could take a lot of shots, and is quite a bit stronger than a normal zombie

 Mutant Plant

Description: A plant infected with the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Very Easy
Appearance: One Time Only
Recommended Weapon(s): Herbicide
Backup Weapon(s): None
You cannot get by the Mutant Plant until it is killed, but no normal weapon will work against it. Once you acquire the Herbicide, you must use it near the water pumping machine for the sprinkler. After that, check the machine and select "Yes" followed by the first option you see next. This will kill the plant and allow you to finally get by it.

Boss Enemies:

 Yawn

Description: A giant, poisonous snake.
Difficulty: Normal
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): Shotgun
Backup Weapon(s): Handgun
You fight the Yawn two times throughout the game, and the strategy is basically the same for each battle. You must run to avoid its attacks, while occasionally stopping momentarily to get a shot in. Be careful though, if you are bit during the first battle, you will be poisoned in a way that only a special serum can cure.

 Elder Crimson Head

Description: A stronger version of a Crimson Head.
Difficulty: Normal
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): Shotgun
Backup Weapon(s): Handgun
The Elder Crimson Head isn't too hard to beat if you have a Shotgun, which will down it in just 3-4 blasts, although the battle is a little more difficult if you only have a Handgun to use. The Crimson Head will run towards you and attack, causing a decent amount of damage. Keep avoiding its attacks and fire away it at until the battle is over.

 Naptune

Description: A larger form of the Neptune sharks.
Difficulty: Very Easy
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): None
Backup Weapon(s): None
This battle can be very easy if you use the right strategy. Instead of wasting a lot of ammo killing the Neptune, you can end this battle quickly and safely. Simply push the box in front of you into the water where the shark is and pull the lever on that platform. This will electricute the Naptune and instantly kill it.

 Plant 42

Description: A large plant mutated by the T-Virus.
Difficulty: Normal
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): Grenade Launcher
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun
Plant 42 fills the majority of the room you have to face it in, giving you little space to move around. It will try to grab you with it's vines and spit poisonous acid at you. The best weapon to use against Plant 42 is the Grenade Launcher loaded with Incendiary Grenades. Using the V-Jolt chemical as Chris will weaken the plant considerably, but in Jill's game, it will allow you to skip the battle entirely.

 Black Tiger

Description: A huge, black spider.
Difficulty: Normal
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): Grenade Launcher, Shotgun
Backup Weapon(s): Flamethrower, Handgun
You face the Black Tiger in a fairly large room, but once this boss makes its appearance, the room will seem a lot smaller. Most of its attacks can poison you, but this isn't a very complicated battle at all. The best weapon to use while dodging its attacks is the Grenade Launcher, but if you are low on Grenades, give it everything else you got until it's finished.

 Lisa Trevor

Description: A very powerful, but failed experiment.
Difficulty: Hard
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): Magnum, Grenade Launcher
Backup Weapon(s): Shotgun
You can only run from Lisa Trevor in your first two encounters with her, since she is cannot be killed at that point. Eventually, you will have to face her though, and luckily, there is more than way you can defeat her. You can either do the obvious and give her all you got, or end the battle quickly by using the four statues in the corners of the platform. Pushing each one off will trigger a cutscene and also end the battle.

 Tyrant

Description: A B.O.W. bearing huge claws on one hand.
Difficulty: Hard
Appearance: N/A
Recommended Weapon(s): Magnum, Rocket Launcher
Backup Weapon(s): Magnum, Shotgun
During the first encounter, you must immediately turn and run, which you'll be doing quite a bit. Once you get far enough away from the Tyrant, face it and shoot it a few times, Repeat this until it falls to the ground. During the second battle, shooting it is worthless, and you must dodge all attacks until Brad drops a Rocket Launcher from the helicopter. Pick it up and shoot a single Rocket at the Tyrant to defeat it once and for all.
