Levels

Lockout

Description: This level is small compared to all of the other multiplayer levels. It has two towers in which are great sniping spots. Like Ascention, Lockout is a floading level, which means that it is very easy to fall off the level and commit suicide.

Prefered game types: The more players, the better: either with all swords, snipers, or rocket launchers.

Tips:

  • There are numerous spots in Lockout in which you can hide and wait for a player to walk by and assassinate them. It is very affective.
  • The level is so small that if you cannot see anyone on the square middle platform, or anywhere else in your sight, they are probably near your location.
  • There are lots of exploding crates in this level and can be very useful to taking out an enemy.
  • If you're good with the sniper, walk around the level with it. When an enemy comes close to you, just no-scope them once, then melee.

Ascension

Description: Ascension is a very abstract level with great sniping locations. It has a rotating structure in the center, surrounded by a desert like area with boulders, and has floating platforms on the sides.

Prefered game types: Team snipers, Tower of Power

Tips:

  • As a veteran Banshee flyer, I always look for locations that you can get to with the vehicle that your enemies cannot. There are three locations in which this can happen: Both of the tall structures, and the support beam under the platform the banshee spawns. (There have been times where I have died going too far down the support beam.)
  • Use the boulders and the wall-like structures for cover. You never can be too cautious.
  • Use the ever-so effective sniping spots to your advantage.
  • When you go to the platform where the rocket launcher spawns, use either the green teleport. If you use the dish, you are bound to be blown away with a sniper rifle.
  • When playing Tower of Power, don't think you can just stroll up the center walkway when the turreteer is active. You will be cut down. I see people do this all the time... and I laugh at them.

Midship

Description: Midship is a very unique level. The Covey ship has gravity lifts, and has some but not many useful sniping spots, although it is difficult because there isn't a sniper rifle in the map default weapons selection. Most of the default weapons on Midship are Covenant, but there are three locations that have Human guns. (Two in which are battle rifles, and one shotgun.)

Prefered game types: 4-6 players slayer, or juggernaut.

Tips:

  • Try to find a spot on the ship that you can distinguish easily. This will help you maneuver around the ship quicker.
  • If you can, get the energy sword at the top of the level. It comes in handy against those Covenant short-ranged weapons.

Ivory Tower

Description: Ivory Tower is a level that doesn't really have any places in which you can camp. You can easily get up to floors above you by getting a ride from the air streams that are located in the East, North, and North-Western portions of the level.

Prefered game types: Slayer, or 1 Bomb Assult, between 4-6 players.

Tips:

  • Try to avoid the walkways that are in the open as much as possible. It is very easy to be sniped while you are on them.
  • There is an overshield on one of the ramps that leads up to the top portion of the level.
  • There is a rocket launcher under the waterfall near the circular platform in the middle of the level. Be careful when you walk down the stream to get to it because there is very little cover.
  • If you need a little extra firepower to take out a foe, use the exploding crates that are found all around the level.

Beaver Creek

Description: Beaver Creek has two bases dispersed by a narrow strip of water. There are many places in which a sniper can camp. But be careful... the paucity of this level can make it very easy for an enemy to come up and assassinate you.

Prefered game types: 2 Flag CTF, Slayer, Oddball, between 3-6 players.

Tips:

  • Try to get the items that form under the rocks at both ends of the stream. On one side there is a hidden shotgun under the water, and  at the other, there is either an overshield or active camouflage.
  • There are mounds by the bases in which you can use to get onto their roofs.
  • There is a rocket launcher on the rock bridge in the middle of the level. But do this quickly; snipers are bound to have you in their crosshairs.
  • There are two paths on the side of the level that lead to great sniping locations. On the path where the sniper forms, jump on to the path to your left. On this dirt platform, you can snipe people off their feet, or you can push the boulders off the ledge, which can be lethal to an enemy.

Burial Mounds

Description: This level has very little cover. There is a base in this level that has two mounted machine gun turrets. In some areas, there are places where you can camp for a while, but keep moving.

Prefered game types: 3-7 players 1 flag CTF, territories, and king of the hill

Tips:

  • Try to get either the Sniper Rifle or the Beam Rifle and zoom in and out of areas to catch a wandering enemy.
  • If you can, try to get the Rocket Launcher that rests on the bridge on the Southern portion of the level. But make sure that there are no enemies on the turret that rests overlooking the Launcher's location.
  • There is a cave in the Eastern part of this level that is the spawning location of the handy Plasma Sword.

Colossus

Description: This level is HUGE. (The biggest level in the game.) Bases in this map are located at its nearer end. The conveyor belts at the ground floor will drop you into a bottomless pit. Be careful, or simply avoid them.

Prefered game type: 5-9 players, assult, snipers

Tips:

  • If you need a little extra firepower to kill an enemy, use the containers that are transported on the belts.
  • Use the gravity lift to get to upper levels and to flee enemies.

Zanzibar (HTactic's level of choice)

Description: In this map, you will find a giant windmill in the center in which will allow access for you to catch a ride on. There are tons of great sniping spots in this level. Also, there are two mounted machine guns at the top of the windmill's power station. When looking at the power station, you will see that there is a gate on the bottom left that doesn't allow access into the station. But if you go up the dirt ramp and go to the control panel, there is an option that says "Hold X to open gate." This, my friends, is an awesome level.

Prefered game types: 8 - 10 players, team slayer, team snipers

  • On the platform that leads to the windmill, you will see a rocket launcher.
  • There is a small den-like area under the windmill that has a plasma sword in it.
  • There are lots of spots where you can hide in the beach area. They are very nice for sniping enemies.
  • There is active cammo in the tower that is on the Eastern part of the map.
  • Try to take control of "Camp Froman", (the square like area on the Western part of the level), to have the sniper's advantage.

Coagulation

Description: The level includes two bases (red and blue), some boulders as cover, and some tunnels in which you can walk in and out of. There is a banshee that spawns under both bases, and there should be a vehicle on the side of each base, depending on what your settings are.

Prefered game types: 10-16 players, 2 flag CTF or slayer.

Tips:

  • Don't be ignorant of where the enemy snipers are. They could own the map if you don't.
  • If you want to get to the other side of the map, hop on a vehicle if there is one available. Don't risk moving on foot. The vehicle provides more cover.
  • If you have a lot of bullets for your sniper, get a banshee and fly up neer the blue base. There is a big rock on the side of the cliff where a platform to snipe is at. Land you banshee there, and blow your enemies away.

Headlong

Description: This map is a big city with highways and buildings. In simple words, its an old abandoned town.

Prefered game types: 10-15 players, snipers, team snipers

Tips:

  • Use windows for a great sniping location and for cover.
  • There are platforms that stick up on the bulidings. Use these for cover from the pesky enemy snipers.
  • In the middle of the level there is a steel beam hanging. You can get on it with a big jump.

Waterworks

Description: This is a very big, dark level. It is in an underground cave-like structure and has some kind of device at the top that moves up and down. Every structure has a bridge leading to it.

Prefered game types: 10-16 players, multi flag CTF

Tips:

  • You can shoot the stalactites off the ceiling. If this hits a player, it can do some damage.
  • If you have a sniper rifle, try to snipe on the rock ledges. This location gives you a great view of the level.
  • If you get a banshee, you can fly up onto the machine in the middle of the map which makes for a great sniping location.
