:: Introduction

Welcome! This site is designed to help you prepare a good website for any course you wish to apply to teach this upcoming term. Along with helping you to prepare a website, it will help you to compile a professional and well developed course. So, no matter what host you choose (see "Free Web Hosts" listed below.) you should try to follow the way this site is made, so that there is a uniformity in all our sites. However if you are a "tenured" professor (meaning you've been a fixture at Hogwarts Online for several terms and already have your course developed) then you do not have to follow this style because obviously your way works best for you.

In this area the top paragraph on the homepage should include a welcome to all the students that are in your class. This area should also include the official title of your course and a description of what the course is and a goal of what you want the student to learn. For the sake of simplicity, throughout this whole website we will use the same examples. The example I will use will be a high school english class, since I hope that almost everyone out there has taken at least freshman year english that wishes to teach here. Below is an example of what your homepage should display in the top area.

English I

Course Description: This is a course designed to familiarize students with the fundamentals of literature, grammar, and vocabulary. It includes a generalized review of language arts- grammar, usage and composition as well as an introduction to the basic forms of literature- the short story, novel, poetry, and drama.

Course Goal: At the completion of thise course, students should be able to correctly identify the basic forms of literature and use the new vocabulary learned in every day life.

The above is a good basic start. This gives the students that want to know what your class is about a brief idea of what they would learn if they enrolled in your course. It's a good idea to also briefly state how they can earn a quill in your class and what types of assignments/workload they would find in your class.
