My name is Colleen Douglas. I was raised here in the Rogue Valley.
We moved to Oregon, in 1960.
You will find photo's of past & present pets that I have cared for.
Growing up on a farm I was raised around horses, cows, goats, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, pigs, sheep, Ferrets, dogs and cats. I have shown Morgan horses & Mini Rex Rabbits, raise meat rabbits, milked dairy cows. I currently have 2 cats, 1 dog, 10 laying hens with 2 roosters.
I live out along the Applegate River where my dog and I love to swim, hike, fish & camp. The photo at the top of the page is my boy Garth. Most Saturdays mornings we can be found at the Growers market.
Home Sweet Home Pet Sitters was born out of the result of a need - a need for my pets to get quality care at their own home, on their schedule, meeting their needs. I couldn't find what I wanted. Garth, my Very Important Pet his care was always the most stressful part when I needed to go on a trip. There were times the poor dog had to cross his paws waiting for someone to just let him out for a few minutes. Our special animals cannot be left to take care of themselves. They rely on us for the care they deserve. Some pets such as Garth, do not respond well to kennel environment and coming home after a visit to the kennel took him days to get back to normal. After one of these times with Garth, VIPHome Sweet Home Pet Sitters was conceived. Now I am able to have the time to do this for Garth as well as all the other VIPs in the Grants Pass area who want to join our VIP club.
Home Sweet Home Pet Sitters offers peace of mind for those of us who must leave our pets alone when we work long hours or travel. We may have to leave our pets alone but we do not need to leave our pets lonely. Home Sweet Home is an alternative to this or having to impose on a friend or a neighbor. I have 25 + years experience in pet sitting and 20 + years training horses for saddle and show.
8+ years in rasing and show Mini Rex Rabbits. I have trained my own dogs, but never have shown them as I have always had a rescue animal so they were always mix breed. My current dog (Garth) loves the agility course, as you can see (Above photo) he also like to make people laugh. We dress for the growers market Sat. morning and trips to retirement centers and cancer wards.
I have had the honor to work with a couple different Veterinarians mostly large animals but some small animals.
I have raise Cockatiels and Parakeets, and had a few ferrets, I love them.
I have never owned an animal I didn't love!
I will feed the horse, milk the cow, gather the eggs, play with the cat & walk the dog while your relaxing on vacation.
