Home Sweet Home

About Our Family

My name is Colleen Douglas. I was raised here in the Rogue Valley.

We moved to Oregon, in 1960.

I do own Home sweet Home and work it myself,

I do work along with other sitters in the area to provide

the best service as well as giving you the best chance of finding a

qualified sitter available.

Growing up on a farm I was raised around horses, cows, goats, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, pigs, sheep, Ferrets, dogs and cats. I have shown Morgan horses & Mini Rex Rabbits, raise meat rabbits, milked dairy cows,  We have raised Dobermans (Black & Tan). I currently have 2 cats, 1 dog, 7 laying hens and 1 rooster.

I live out along the Applegate River where my dog and I love to swim,  hike,  fish & camp. The photo at the top of the page is my boy Garth. Sadly Garth lost his fight with Cancer and was buried alongside a stream on Oct. 13, 2008. He was 10 Years 7 months. I miss him dearly. I now have a young pup that I am training. He is doing very well.

My Love of animals and my experience in the pet industry made a career as a professional pet sitter natural fit for me.

Once I decided I wanted to become a pet sitter, the best decision I made was to join NAPPS.  The association looks after the pet sitters best interests, in both services and education. NAPPS offers me the opportunity of continued education, networking with other sitters, staying updated about the pet sitting industry, and staying informed about current advances in animal health and care. I know that you as a pet owner want the very best for your pet while you are away. I continue my education to keep on top of the pet sitter industry.

One of the best rewards about this job is receiving all the slobbery dog kisses or having a purring kitty showing their love and appreciation when I visit. What job could be better? I am also rewarded by giving my clients the peace of mind that allows them to leave without worry, knowing their home and pets are being well taken care of in their absence. I absolutely adore all my furry clients and their moms and dads too!

Ultimately, my goal is to have a well-respected, responsible and caring service. I strive to make my business a quality business I can be proud of and one that insures the well being of those beloved furry family members in my care.

Since starting my service in 1998, the business has become a successful endeavor of joy.

If you have any requests that may improve my service I am more than willing to hear what you have to say.

I truly believe that the pet sitter you decide upon should do their best to comply with your wishes and not have your pet comply with me. When we come out to have a consultation we will do our best to bend our scheduel to fit your wishes.
