Holly Ridge Middle School

7th Grade Bears Team

Bear Den Rules

Homeroom

All students who participate in our breakfast program should enter the cafeteria immediately upon entering the school.  Students are not permitted to return to the cafeteria after they leave.  All other students should go directly to their homeroom with their belongings.  Each student will be expected to remain in their designated room versus roaming class to class.  You may get a pass from your teacher if you need to leave the classroom for any reason.

Eating In the Room

Food, drinks, gum, candy are not permitted on the Bears team unless awarded by a teacher.  Students are asked to leave these items at home or in your locker.  Redirective action will include:  asking student to place in waste basket, put in locker, parent contact and possible administrative referral.

Cell Phones

Under county policy, students who carry a cell phone, must have it away and out of site at all times and turned off.  Cell phone use is not permitted as a calculator, text messenger or phone call center during school business hours.  If your child must bring a cell phone to school, please ask them to keep in their locker, as belt holders and purse cell phone attachments are not permitted.  If a cell phone is used during school hours, the phone will be taken and given to the grade level administrator.

Lockers

Backpacks, bookbags, and jackets are to be kept in your locker.  They are not permitted in the classroom.  If a student is not issued a locker, their homeroom teacher will provide them with a space to keep these items.  You are allowed to use your locker after homeroom and throughout the day.  Students will not be permitted to leave class to use lockers for books, homework, projects, etc... outside of these times.  Your locker is your locker, do not give your combination to friends or leave unsecured.  All items placed in those lockers are compliant with all Wake County Public Schools policies regarding search and seizure.

Cafeteria Expectations

Students will arrive and leave for lunch together as a class.  To set a positive example for all others, the Bears team will move single file, quiet and to the right of the hall.  Once in the cafeteria, students are encouraged to make only one trip through the lunch and snack machine lines.  Each student will have designated times to help clean the cafeteria after our departure.  Let's leave it looking just as good (if not better) than when we arrived.

Dress Code

Students should adhere to all HRMS dress code guidelines.  Just a reminder that clothing and/or items which display offensive, harmful, illegal, innappropriate or gang affiliation will be referred to administration.

Tardy Policy

Being on time to class is defined as being in the classroom ready to learn when the class starts -  not near the door, in the hall, or goofing off in the room, out of your seat.
