From humble beginnings I had been created,
I had been ‘transformed' so many times,
Since the war between France,
And Britain was very constant.
As 1870 came, I thought, finally,
I will have some time to settle down.
1921, they discussed my makeover,
Thank God that it wasn’t achieved.
1963, the ‘Man of Change’ came,
Many opposed his modern ways.
1964, a contest for choosing a flag was held,
I was outraged that, once again, I’d be changed.
Three entries were chosen out of three thousand,
Pearson preferred another,
But the Maple Leaf Flag was still chosen,
I hoped I can finally relax.
1965, I finally got to settle down,
I’m happy it took them all that,
Hassle to make me unique,
I fly proudly, from coast to coast, everyday.
