-> HES FES June-July 06

HESFES stands for Home Educators Seaside Festival and is mainly made up of children who don't go to school.
It's a festival all about people living their lives according to their own rules and not the ideas of others and doing what they want to do.
There is usually loads of music, crazy people, crazy activities, and plenty to see and do. There's a cabaret where anyone can go on stage and do anything. It was four hours long this year.
Bands this year included My Pet Junkie, Vector Monkey, and 100% who don't actually rhyme with the other two. Although there's now only two of them left in 100% they all played together anyway for the last night, it was wonderful! And Marco and John on their own are brilliant as it is. I felt it was a shame everything kept having to finish so early, I suppose that's the price you pay for flushing toilets, not being able to stay up all night listening to and playing live music.
The Groovy Movie tent was as abstract as ever! Where were those bicycles though? That was fun last year, cycling and watching stuff at the same time.
And I think the Under 8s Music Tent had a clientele that was perhaps 80% made up of OVER 8s, because there was not much other music going on during the day.
I loved the ducks on the lake. I also liked the beach even if it was deadly for bare feet, and a little bit quicksandy, and the sea was a weird brown colour a lot of the time, but going to sleep listening to the waves was nice.
That's probably enough rambling from me. So here are my photos that I took, for you to see!

The main marquee and some chairs and stuff... I was a bit confused by the union jack on top, isn't hesfes meant to be a multi-cultural kind of event for people from all over the world?
