The Period Project
Violet created this zine because of her dissatisfaction of corporate propaganda in schools concerning periods. Like remeber that talk you got in 5th/6th grade in public school? At the end you given party favor baggies with ads printed on them and inside of them was tampons, deoderant, pads, and makeup. All provided to you by the lovely people at Proctor and Gamble/Kimberly Clark/Tampax/OB etc? With coupons to give your mom to buy more? In this zine is the kinda antithesis of that. it talks about cramps, and celebrating and loving your body, and what choices you get when it comes to bleeding (and by choices this isnt always vs kotex). It includes a section on where to get/how to make period related crafts and includes lists for further reading and so much more! I know I am totally giving this to my little sister when she gets older.

Radical Pet #1(San Diego, Ca)
This zine is by my friend and fellow collective member Margarat. She runs a dog traning business and works at a pet health food store. See a lot of Women in the radical community carry around little toy lap dogs, not this is a bad thing, but they dress it up give it a carrier and name it ala Paris Hilton, and where is the radicalness in that? A dog is a living thing, not an accessory. so she created this zine which I LOVE. While mainly its about dogs there a few cat tips here and there. Mostly talks about flower essences for you and your pets, the downfalls of vaccinating, dog behavior in really awesome detail and how to respond to it (calming signals), and the benefits of raw food for your pets. like seriously this is the best thing I?ve read all year
