The Gorean lifestyle is based upon principles outlined in a series of books released between 1967 and 2007, written by John Frederick Lange Jr. (Professor of Philosophy at Queens College, New York) under the pseudonym John Norman.

This series, whilst fictional, provides rational and evidentiary examples of a set of beliefs and principles, drawn from historical cultural and societal practices from a number of ancient and pre-modern civilisations.

These principles include as their primary pillars, self knowledge, self truth, honour, loyalty, pride and self actualisation.

The Gorean philosophy is also based upon the principle of Natural Order, a philosophical viewpoint based upon evolutionary patterns which dictate that, for the most part, men are dominant and women submissive. This in turn leads to the supposition that men should naturally dominate women. There is sufficient historical evidence to support this as a natural state, logically progressing into a state of Master and slave.

Please note that Goreans are not role players, nor are we living a fantasy on a fictional planet. We are simply following a set of belief patterns which we feel most appropriately and accurately dictate who and what we are. We feel that to deny these truths would be to deny ourselves. This can only lead to unhappiness, sickness and eventual decay of both body and spirit.
