What’s ‘stat maxing’?

A horse that is stat maxed will have all of its actual stats over 200 (don’t confuse the actual stats with the stat %). All of the stats include:

•        Strength (should be 200 or above)

•        Intelligence (should be 200 or above)

•        Speed (should be 200 or above)

•        Endurance (to be truly stat maxed, this stat has to of reached its ‘red letter cap’ which varies from breed to breed. The red letter cap is always over 200)

•        Surefootedness (should be 204, or above if shoes are used)

•        Movement (should be 205, or above if shoes are used)

•        Disciplines (should be 150, but can be raised higher)

How many horses of one colour should there be to consider a colour rare?

Extremely Rare-

1-3 (if there is only one then we refer to them as being 1-of-a-colour or 1-of-a-kind)

Rare-

4-5

Semi rare-

6-10

Custom colour-

11+

yes, all of them ARE custom colours but when there is 11+ of the colour then you can’t really refer to it as rare…so we just call it custom coloured :)

What’s ‘rolling’?

Rolling is the term given to a training process where you get a horse's stats % to a certain point where the stat title will change to the next, better stat. Look here to view the rank of the stat titles

http://www.virtualhorseranch.com/new_stat.html

What’s ‘tweaking’?

Tweaking refers to the training technique where the trainer raises a horse’s stats in order to get it ready for competing.

What’s ‘levelling’?

Levelling is the term given to raising the training level that a horse has. The highest level that any horse can reach is 25 (traction shoes with +1 level for western horses)

How do I put a picture on my horse?

Go to your horse’s page and under all the info about it’s parents, breed, age ect there is a text box with Image Link:’  written on it’s left and to it’s right there is a button saying ‘add/change image’. Enter the URL of the picture you want to put on the horse and click the button. When the page refreshes your horse will have its new piccie!

What’s ‘BC’?

BC stands for birth capped or breed capped. This refers to the highest possible stat titles that a horse can be born with. Go to the 'useful links' page for a link to the BC list on the VHR forum.

What is ‘optimum age’?

Optimum age refers to the prime age of a horse for a certain event. You can start competing a horse before this age, and continue after but it will be best at this age. The following table will show the optimum ages for each training type.

Try to train your horse in the training type which will allow the horse to be entered in shows matching is breed type which will in turn give the horse a bonus. Refer to the training guide section of the VHR help articles to read more about these bonuses.

What’s a ‘foundation’ horse?

Foundation horses are the ones with ‘unknown’ parents. Foundation pairs of every breed can be purchase from the goodie page with real money or you can pay someone with VHR cash to buy it for you. Foundation horses typically have pore stats how ever the stats improve rapidly over generations and can usually reach birth cap at about the 3rd generation. Foundation horses are largely valued because they can be used to produce brand new blood lines. Belgians, Arabians and Prezwalskis can be caught by sponsors (each sponsor can catch 6 ‘wild horses’ the previous three breeds described are the only ones they can catch) and don’t really have much value due to their readily available purchase.

What’s an ‘NPC rider’?

An NPC rider is a rider that you purchase to put on your horses at shows. It gives your horse extra points, but only if it’s the correct rider.

What’s ‘cross breeding’?

Cross breeding is producing a foal from two different breeds in order to create a new breed. Ie: crossing an American Quarter Horse with a Thoroughbred will result in an Appendix Quarter Horse

This link here will show you what breed you will get from a cross

What’s a ‘custom colour’?

A custom colour is a colour ordered off the goodie dye page, do not confuse this as a rare colour. A rare colour is often custom ordered but a custom colour isn’t always rare. A custom colour can be purchased for $8 (US) through the goodie page, you have to choose a horse to put it on and with in a few days the horse will receive its colour. No one can obtain the colour unless you let it out through breedings. Some players will  buy you a goody dye (as it is also know) in return for play cash, art, horses, breedings, training and lots more. People often auction these off on the auction section of the main forum.

How many horses of one colour should there be to consider a colour rare?

Extremely Rare-

1-3 (if there is only one then we refer to them as being 1-of-a-colour or 1-of-a-kind)

Rare-

4-5

Semi rare-

6-10

Custom colour-

11+

yes, all of them ARE custom colours but when there is 11+ of the colour then you can’t really refer to it as rare…so we put call it custom coloured :)

How can I tell how many horses of the colour exist?

Go to the market place and type in the exact colour in the ‘colour box’ and then click ‘search’. At the top in little blue font it will say ‘x Results found’ the x will obviously be a number so if there are 3 of the colour it will say 3 Results found. There is also a custom colour list on the forum, go to the search on the forum and type custom colour list (make sure you select the ‘Search for all terms’ and the topic should pop up. If you can’t find it ask someone :)

What's a 'block colour'?

A block colour was a holiday gift (or veteran award as they are seldom called) given to the sponsor players one year. It’s a dye that can be put on a horse and where the horse’s colour is displayed a little colourful square or block will appear in its place. These are the block colours that can be found floating around

What breed can sponsors catch?

For every sponsor account that is created and or renewed the ranch owner has the choice to catch 6 ‘wild horses’ these are foundation horses but only Arabians, Belgians and Prezwalskis can be caught. These do not have to same value as foundation horses off the goodie page so don’t get sucked into paying huge amounts for them.

How do I cure West Nile Virus?

There are two ways you can do this but I find this way the easiest, they might sound rather odd but trust me, they work! You may need to get a sponsor to do it for you; I don’t mind doing it for free.

Train your horse in something that will exhaust it (often teamwork does the job), you will probably need to train it in the discipline 6 times, you will find that the exhaustion will over ride the virus. Now, use a cure (you can buy them off the market, some times they are expensive or take for ever to find…that’s why I suggest you get a sponsor to do it for you as they can get them straight away with their vet skills) and fix the exhaustion!

Note: if your horse’s endurance is 200+ then you will need to change it’s diet to 0/0/0/0 in order to exhaust it

don't forget to vaccinate ALL of your horse's to stop them from getting the virus
