Robert Hoar Sr. Born 1719

Robert Hoar Sr, was born 23 May 1719 and died between 1784-1791 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, Massachusetts. Robert Sr. married three times. He had one son, Robert Hoar- Horr II with Sarah Willis. With Judah- Judith Tinkham he had three children; Peter, Sarah and Judith. His third wife Rachel had been previously married to Haskins or Hathaway. Rachel had two children with Robert Sr.: John and Rachel. These pages has his three wives and their descendants.

To say Robert Hoar is a Senior is not fully correct. There are many Roberts before him in this well researched and documented family. To include all of his ancestors would be repeating the work of the Most Excellent researchers before me. Robert Hoar born 1719 is the Senior in this branch of Hezekiah's family.

          A note about how I do things

I list the state first, the county second, and the town third. In my program's index I wanted the names to be grouped by their state location.

Some names have several spellings. The first of the names is usually the correct name, the following names are their nick-names or the way it was found. You might need this alternative spelling for your own searches.

When I didn't know a birth date I used a point of reference date; the same birth year as the spouse's, usually followed by a XX as a birth place. Unknown death dates are listed as "after" as in, after I find out.

In my last update I used the last census year and place followed by "of" as their death date. This is misleading to their death date but I need a point of reference when researching.

Unknown birth places are listed as XX, unknown death places are left blank.

I have based my information on researchers before me, censuses, statewide birth, death and marriage records as well as SSDI, obituaries and cemeteries. If you find your family line I urge you to locate the documents to confirm the dates and locations. These are my research notes.

To find which child your person is in you will use these numbers. The first number 1. is Robert II. The number, 1-12, following the 1.1. is the child to look under. Such as; 1.12.6 would be Judith's 6th child, numbers following the 6. would be the birth number of that child's child, etc.

Who shares your home town?

For me, these are the most interesting pages. I have been repeatedly surprised to find people in the towns I or my family have lived. Sometimes I find families living in the same area as their distant cousins. I have to wonder if they knew they were cousins.

I wanted another way to search for people so I am listing the places they lived. This list their birth and death places but not where they lived in-between birth and death. Unfortunately, this does not let you know where to find them in my pages. I think it is interesting to see what other family members lived in the same area. This may help you in researching their families.

You can find them by both their birth place and death place. If you know where they were born you will see where they died or visa versa.

The names are alphabetical by all-capital SURNAME, followed by given names. Next is their birth date and place of birth, followed by place of death. Death dates are not listed.

I have the name of the state first, county second, and town third, example; NY: Lewis Co, Denmark. All the states are listed by their capitalized abbreviation such as AZ for Arizona. All the states are followed by a colon [:]. If you see only NY:, OH: that would mean they were born in New York and died in Ohio. Unknown birth places are XX and unknown death places are not listed. Occasionally I have two places of birth, such as VT: MA:. This may be from one child stating their parent was born in one state and another child stating a different state. Or, maybe they felt they were from Massachusetts but actually born in Vermont with different censuses showing one or the other.

This file is very large so I have it broken up by states. Some states had very few people and I have grouped them with other states, such as Alabama, Arizona and Arkansas.

Martha C. Horr, dau of  Levi Horr & Lucy Hart, did not have a family with Frederick Bacon.
Frederick married a different Martha whose surname was also Bacon.

and is said to have married a Frank Bacon. I have not found them.

Over 355 times a name (or age) has been incorrectly transcribed.
This is not the error of the census enumerator but that of the transcriber.
Many times the name was difficult to read, most times it was because the transcription was not double checked.
Four place names have been mistranscribed; Vermilion Co, Otter Creek in Illinois, and McCloud and Calpella in Calif.

Many times I was impressed when a name was transcribed that I could not read to make a guess.
