April was National Prevent Child Abuse Month in the United States. Please consider helping in some way, such as volunteering your time or services. Check with your local agencies and see if there is something you can do to help. Your help will make a difference.
"On April 17-18, 2007 advocates from across the country visited the nation’s capital to meet with Members of Congress to discuss the importance of funding for domestic violence and sexual assault programs in our communities. "

This candle is kept lit in honor of every victim of domestic abuse, child or adult, male or female. Please know that you are special. May you one day come to the understanding and awareness of how valuable you are, as an individual. May you find that inner peace, joy, and wholeness, which every survivor longs for deep inside, including myself. May you find empowerment in your daily life. May you be content in simply being that unique individual that you are. Isaiah 43:2
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you."
The purpose of this website is manifold. It is to be a safe place for victims and survivors of domestic violence that are seeking resources, encouragement, and a gathering place to talk with others who have endured any form of abuse. It is also a website rich in resources and information for those who are assisting a victim of domestic violence or sexual abuse.
Those that are searching for information on the topic of domestic violence include, but are not limited to, teachers, parents, grandparents, friends, aunts, uncles, neighbors etc. One page, in particular, holds information in regards to sexual abuse. I would like to ask that any child under the age of 16 not enter this website. There are several pages which I do not consider to be appropriate for children below that age level. If you are a child and you need help because you are being hurt in any way, please call 911 immediately, or talk with a school teacher or counselor, asking them for help so you can be safe. I care about you and want you to be safe. Please go to an adult that you can trust and ask for help. Again, I want to ask that all children, under the age of 16, please leave this site and not browse through it. The material on this site is geared specifically for teens 16-18 and adults. This includes the message boards.
I would ask any victim or survivor of sexual abuse to use caution before visiting the page titled, "Children and Abuse," since I feel it has the potential to trigger you in some form. However, the decision is obviously your own and if you feel that you are personally able to read through the information I have chosen to place there, then you are certainly welcome to read through it.
My goal with this site is to make it as safe as possible regarding information; however, domestic violence in any form, is no light subject matter and is, in my personal opinion, an extremely serious issue in our society. For that matter, I do not feel it should be candy-coated. The information that I have placed here is not done so to cause anyone any difficulty or further trauma. It is on my site, because in light of the recent incidents across the United States regarding the kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder of innocent children, I felt it was necessary to place here purely for informational purposes. It is my goal that people are informed in the best means possible so that they are able to make educated decisions; thus preventing any further harm or fatal injuries to our innocent and most precious ones -- our children. Thank you for your understanding.
This site was created to be a place for safe research, information, encouragement and support. There are times when I will post my thoughts on this site, such as the "Walk With Me" and "Reflections" pages; however, I will try to keep it at a level which will not be a trigger for others. If you are a victim or survivor of domestic violence, please use your own discretion and caution before browsing through some of these pages. I will do my best to mark something as having the potential to trigger, before writing and sharing my thoughts. Thank you so much for your understanding.
Have a peaceful day!

Online Petition:
The Supreme Court of the United States recently ruled that "the U.S. Constitution does not recognize an entitlement by domestic violence victims to enforcement of their protective orders." Apparently, this ruling came from the case of a Colorado mother, who lost her three young children to her abusive husband, when there was no apparent enforcement of the Temporary Restraining Order in place at that time. He kidnapped their children, and murdered them.
I find the ruling of the Supreme Court of the United States to be very disturbing and disheartening. Honestly, at this moment, I am at a loss for words, because the highest court in our country expresses an apparent refusal to protect all victims of domestic violence in the United States of America.
I have created an online petition, to be delivered to the Supreme Court, through the United States Postal Service, upon obtaining 1000 signatures, each requesting that the Supreme Court re-evaluate their decision and stance on this matter.
If you are interested in signing this petition, please look for the link on the right in the NavBar and sign the petition.
Thank you so much for helping to protect victims of domestic violence, across the United States,
Kelli
