Jr All-American Camp Open Run Recap!

Posted by alvertis london on November 23, 2010 at 12:49 PM

This past Saturday, The Memphis Jr. All-American Camp Open Run was held at St. Georges Independent School & it was indeed a success. This was a well organized event and I was honored to be there. Clay Dade did a terrific job putting on this event for the first time in Memphis. Boys from grades 5th thru 8th came out to show off there stuff in hopes of earning bids to the National Camp in Atlanta Summer 2011. I left the event very impressed with the talent I witnessed. Memphis basketball is definitely in good hands for years to come!

One kid in particular that impressed me was 6th grader Chase Hayden. the 5'3" PG from St. George's was relentless on both ends of the court. his offensive reputoir at his age is outstanding. He gets to the rack when ever he wants, and he has knack of hitting runners & floaters ease, which is essential forany point guard. Defensively, Hadyen didn't back down from anyone. His intensity on that end is fearless. A true 6th grader age wise, Chase is the best i've seen those far. The sky is the limit for this kid, and I can't wait to see him 3-4 years from now!

Also, there was a lot of buzz going on throughout the camp about 6'0" 8th Grader Frederick Douglas (St. Dominic). A virtually unheard of in the class of 2015 until now. very explosive guard with tons of potential all over him. Remember the name!

There were other kids at the camp that played extremely well. They, along with other players, all earned bids to the National Camp.
