Homeschool Pringles Challenge

1. Students will use 1 (regular) Pringles potato chip.

2. No substance may be applied to the chip, or the chip altered in any way.

3. The chip must be recoverable and edible (but don't eat them!!!!) when received by the evaluating homeschool.

4. Students will work individually or in small groups on the design, building and testing of this project.  If students are to work individually, please register each student individually.

5.  All student participants will be assigned a number to protect identity on the internet.

5. All packages must be sent via the US Postal Service - First Class Mail!  (please be aware that there may be a  surcharge for small packages if you stamp them yourself.  It may be advisable to take them to the post office for stamping!) Packages sent using any other carrier will be disqualified.

6. Also be advised that there is a USPS regulation that states a 3" x 5" limit on the size of the package, and a fussy postman may reject a smaller package. However, a public school group that does this challenge has had many, many packages smaller that 3" x 5" delivered, so getting a small package through the mail is part of the challenge.  For more information on USPS sizing regulations:  http://www.usps.com/businessmail101/mailcharacteristics/minMax.htm

7. If special unpacking instructions are needed they should also be included.

8. Each participating homeschool will send, receive and evaluate a package.

9. Each package must be clearly labeled "PRINGLES CHALLENGE" and addressed to the receiving homeschool.  The return address should also be the address of the receiving homeschool.  DO NOT put your id # on the package!

10. The sending homeschool MAY write only "Fragile" or "Handle With Care" on the package--NOTHING else!

11. It is the responsibility of individual homeschools to assure that results are accurate, and that they are exchanged in a timely manner, following the timeline.
