XU & Mrcien

We met in school 1999. During that time we founded P.T.O. A poetry terrorist organization with the main focus to make people, who normally don't read poetry, confronted and open minded. Also we musically were engaged in a project called "Klangvärld" where we played prepared piano and sounds from various non-common instruments.

After that hectic year we moved to different cities but still kept contact. Fredrik started study literature, Markus lived on various jobs and published two books.

In 2005 we came together to realize an idea of combining poetry and electronic music. The result was a netlabel release on  www.ndorphin.org. titled "Arketyp"

In summer 2005 we once again met, and through a very intens week we made our full album "singing rust" also released on Ndorphin. Markus were asked to write some info about the release for the labels newsletter. This is what he had to say:

I were asked to write a few words concerning intention and feelings we wanted to transport on "Singing rust" Well, first off, I must say it was a fun record to make. Since we both are very new in making music, the enthusiasm and joy in creating were of bigger proportion then our self criticism. In spring 2005 I prepared some structures and later on Fredrik came and we intensely started make music. This was in summer 2005. Then we needed a break we took a walk in the city, and to a place by the ocean called Alderholmen. This area we soon realized had a big influence in the creation process. The place is somehow deserted and disliked, there lies rusting boats and cranes, and people use it to dump garbage. We made some field recordings there and very quickly made the song "singing rust". So that song in many ways is a interpretation to make a place into a song.

More parallels to that place can be found on the record, so for us the album is connected to that area. But as i said before: it was also a record that was very fun to make.

And each songs is different, like we don't know in which direction we want to go. But that was only part of the fun.
