Effective immediately - and also previously, but we have to repeat it
- we need all parents and caregivers to do the following at STARS on
Friday nights:
• Parents must stay OFF the gym floor unless you are working with your
STARS child. STARS is for our special needs children. It is NOT "free
play time" for adults. The balls, equipment, and accessories are for
the STARS children, not the parents. Parents can play the games also -
you can play with your STARS children.
• Siblings must stay OFF the gym floor. Siblings are only permitted on
the gym floor if they are actively helping STARS children. Otherwise,
they are a danger to our STARS kids with physical disabilities. If a
STARS child falls and gets hurt from a typical child (running across,
roughhousing, etc.) - we're liable. Kids like Nick, Kyle, and others
can easily fall and get hurt if smaller typical children run in front
of them. Yes - we make special accommodations for children of all ages
with disabilities - we're STARS!
• Parents MUST accompany their children in the lobby to the bathrooms
and the water fountain. No exceptions. We're receiving complaints on
'unaccompanied kids.'
If these rules are not enforced or followed - we will lose the Center
and STARS may shut down. We don't want to lose STARS over a few simple
rules. It really is simple - STARS is for special needs children - not
typical siblings, not free play-time for adults.
We will repeat these rules as often as we have to - we don't want to
lose the Center. We don't want STARS to close - but the Perzel Center
is complaining, and we have to follow their rules. If a STARS child
gets hurt, Holy Terrors is responsible. All of this is preventable.
Please follow the rules, watch your children and help where you can.
Thank you.
