It started with a jam session among friends and a love for Celtic music. Now in their third year together Hollow Promise is gearing up to release their first cd.
Based in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, Hollow Promise has traveled up and down the island, Cortez Island and Vancouver to share their energetic sound. Their influences include anything that strikes their fancy and they perform mostly traditional songs and tune sets from Ireland, Scotland, and Eastern Canada as well as some contemporary pieces from current Canadian singer-songwriters.
In their first year, Hollow Promise was accepted to the Island Music Fest to rave reviews. Hollow Promise choses music that each of them feel attached to in some way. Sometimes it’s a beautiful ballad that just seems to float plaintively and sometimes it’s just the chord progression on a tune set. They are committed to only choosing music they all enjoy playing.
