Friends of Hollingbury and Burstead Woods

Hello!

We have now moved website to: www.fhbw.org.uk

Please go there for all the latest updates!

We are a group of volunteers who care about our local environment and came together to look after the urban woods of Hollingbury and Hollingdean after they were devastated by the Great Storm of 1987.

We meet once a month to carry out practical work in the woods ranging from tree and hedge planting to path maintenance and litter clearance.  The work is carried out under the guidance of our Ranger, David Larkin from the Brighton and Hove Countryside Service, and our Project Officer.  Gloves and tools are provided and no special skills are required - just enthusiasm!  For tasks such as tree thinning and planting a new hedge training can be given.  The work is not too arduous and everyone works at their own pace. We stop mid morning for a break and a chat - coffee, tea and biscuits are provided.

If you would like to join our work sessions click here or on the menu bar for further details.

It is not all work and no play: we have an annual 'AWAY DAY' in the summer and occasionally hold other events such as wildlife walks.  We also publish an occasional newsletter to keep our members informed.

If you would like to support us or take part in the work sessions you are assured of a warm welcome.
