THE SEVENTEEN YEAR SEARCH

Pastor Robson was supposed to have died in his teenage years. Many believe that Pastor, who is confined to a wheelchair, was spared by God for His glory. Pastor is now serving his Lord in full-time Christian work. The Lord designed Pastor for His eternal purposes. "According as he hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world..."(Ephesians 1:4) Pastor Robson states, " The Lord in His loving wisdom knew that I would not walk, but be dependent upon others to meet my physical needs. He knew before this world was created that I would be in a wheelchair. His infinite wisdom knew that I would choose Christ as my personal Savior. " He miraculously fashioned Pastor as it pleased Him. Exodus 4:11 states, " who hath made man’s mouth? or who hath made the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing or the blind? have not I the Lord..."

Pastor Robson started a search for truth during his Senior year in High School that haunted him for the next seventeen years. His search led him initially to an examination of religious knowledge. He examined his church denomination’s beliefs and was asked to preach while his pastor was on vacation. Pastor remembers, " While preaching that summer, I became concerned that I didn’t believe. I felt like a hypocrite, but I wasn’t sure what I didn’t believe in. I know now that it was Christ. " The seeking mind then reasoned that man’s work would fulfill the hunger and a career was sought. Pastor Robson shares that although he enjoyed his work, the emptiness remained.

Our society has convinced us that the ultimate joy is to be found in a love relationship. Pastor states, " I married my wife in 1974 and we have had a happy marriage. Love still left me hungering and thirsting after the true source of a satisfying life. " " I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh to the Father but by me ." (John 14:6)

Pastor relates that the Lord in His mercy reached down to his seeking soul and allowed him to be laid off from his job. Pastor Robson shares that, " The Lord knew that the greatest hindrance in my search for Christ was my selfish pride. All my life, I tried to prove that although physically handicapped with a muscle disease, I was as good as others. Consequently, I strove for excellence in school and in my career. The result was a self pride that would not allow me to admit that I was a sinner who needed a Savior. " The Lord humbled Pastor and allowed his life of self centeredness to be brought low so that Pastor might be given the gift of everlasting life. Pastor Robson came to see clearly that, " All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. " (Romans 3:23)

He realized that he was a sinner and that all his righteousness was as filthy rags in God’s sight. His search was coming to an end. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, " For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. " Pastor came to the knowledge that he couldn’t be saved by his own works. " Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. " (Acts 4:12) His search had led him to understand that Hell is at the end of a Christless life. " For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. " (Romans 6:23)

Pastor desired to receive Christ as his Savior. " But as many as received Him to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. " (John 1:12) On June 13, 1979 in obedience to Roman 10:13, " Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. " Pastor prayed and asked the Lord to come into his life and take over and the Lord did just that. There is no guarantee for tomorrow! Won’t you do as Pastor Robson has done and trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior today. Will you receive Him? What will you answer be? You can receive the Lord right now. Do you understand that you are a sinner that needs a Savior? Ask him to save you now!

At the age of two Gordon was not walking and his mother realized that he wasn’t developing the way most children do. His concerned parents took him to a series of Doctors who diagnosed him with a muscle disease. The Doctor also told his parents that he probably wouldn’t live past his teenage years. Many believe that Pastor, who is confined to a wheelchair, was spared by God for His glory. Pastor is now serving his Lord in full-time Christian work. The Lord designed Pastor for His eternal purposes. Pastor Robson started a search for truth during his Senior year in High School that haunted him for the next seventeen years. His search led him initially to an examination of religious knowledge. He began to examine the beliefs of the church he was attending at the time. During his search the Pastor noticed Gordon’s interest and knowledge in religious studies. Feeling confident in his knowledge, the Pastor asked Gordon to preach while he was away on summer vacation. Pastor Robson remembers, " While preaching that summer, I became concerned that I didn’t believe. I felt like a hypocrite, but I wasn’t sure what I didn’t believe in. I know now that it was Christ. "

The seeking mind then reasoned that man’s work would fulfill the hunger and a career was sought. Brother Robson let his work become his god, putting all of his time and energy into his career. Pastor Robson shares that although he enjoyed his work, the emptiness remained.
