Reiki (pronouced ray-kee) is a Japanese word meaning "universal life energy". It draws on the natural healing energy of the universe to heal ourselves and others. Reiki is primarily perceived as a practice for healing the body, but it is also a method for healing the mind and spirit.
When the Reiki practitioner channels this energy into the recipient, it activates the body's natural ability to heal itself, releasing blocked energies, cleansing the body of toxins and working to create a state of balance.
Benefits of Reiki Healing:
Relief from pain, stress and emotional imbalances.
Balances the chakras (natural energy systems of the body).
Helps to balance all physical body systems.
Can be used alongside other holistic and conventional medical treatments.
Reiki reunites the trinity of Mind-Body-Spirit in their optimal state of harmony.
What happens during a Reiki Treatment?
You will be asked to lie down on a massage bed, fully clothed. The therapist will gently place her hands on, or over, specific areas of the body, in particular the chakras, and then concentrate on the areas of the body that you are experiencing any problems with. If you are unable to lie down on a bed a chair can be used instead. The treatment may take up to an hour.
The whole experience of Reiki is a very relaxing and, for many, a spiritual one. All healing is channelled with the intention of doing good, regardless of the discipline. The energy is the same, whatever name we put on it.
You may experience sensations in your body during a treatment. These may include tingling, warmth, coolness or waves of energy running through your body. You may also see colours. Some people do not feel or see anything, however, this does not mean that they have not received the energy. Everyone's experience is different.
