Hole Station Campsite. In the very heart of rural West Devon.

A place for people who would just like to wind down a bit.

Welcome to Hole Station Campsite, Devon.

Hole Station Campsite is a tents only campsite situated in very rural West Devon, midway between Dartmoor and the beaches of North Cornwall and North Devon. Hole Station Campsite is open from the Ist of April to the morning of 1st October.

The campsite is completely secluded and not overlooked, set in an idyllic 45 acres of wild flower meadow and woodlands and approached via a private lane - take a look in the Photo Gallery, a picture paints a thousand words!

  • Camp Fires - Every pitch has it's own firepit, the Hole Station Campsite supplies camp fire kits that include firelighters, kindling, and graded logs. Order campfire kits daily by 5pm, they are ready for collection by around 6pm from the log store.

  • Pre-Erected Tents (Rent-A-Tent Camping) - Pretty much everything you will need for a comfortable camping holiday is supplied including accommodation for up to six per pitch and large covered cooking and dining areas. All you need to bring is sleeping gear, a toiletry kit and your food!  Rent-A-Tent is a super introduction to camping for 'newbies' who want to give camping a try, and also suits seasoned campers who appreciate the ease of everything ready on arrival. Click the 'Rent-A-Tent Camping' tab for more information and prices.

  • BYO Camping - Traditional camping, you bring all your own kit, we supply a fantastic location, click the 'BYO Camping' tab for more information .

  • Dog Friendly  - Well behaved dogs are welcome on BYO pitches, but sorry, not on Rent-A-Tent pitches. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times (We don't want them chasing the deer that live in the woods).

  • Pub Grub and a Good Pint - Our local, the Golden Inn at Highampton, is a short 15-20 minute walk along the Highampton cycle track through lovely countryside.

  • Cyclists - Welcome to the new Cyclists Corner. Hole Station Campsite is midway on the Devon coast to coast route, close to the Tarka Trail and the Granite Way, and any number of quiet country lanes. For those arriving by pushbike a new feature for 2010 is  a dedicated cyclists corner, with a covered dining, cooking and socialising area - keep dry if the weather gets iffy, you won't be tent-bound! Click the Cyclists Corner tab for more info.

  • Activities and Things to Do - There is never a shortage of activities in the locality, take a look at the Things To Do page for ideas.

  • Ice Packs and Eco Loos - There is a small freezer full of ice packs to keep the content of your cool box cool, a purpose built loo and shower block, and a washing up area.

  • Library and Info Point - There is a small library on site in which you are welcome to do book swaps, board games are kept there too as well as info on local things to do.

  • Say Hello to the Animals - Mr Crash the Old English goat and his companion Burn the Golden Guernsey, Mario and Sanne the horses, the rescue chickens (kept in line by Bertie Rooster), Minnie the cat and the dogs Holly and Star.

  • No Music or Radios - Just the sounds of nature, and once you tune in (It takes a couple of hours after setting up) you will notice plenty of it!

  • No Cars on Site - That's a good thing! No headlights shining in your tent, no slamming car doors. The car park is adjacent to the campsite.

Hole Station Campsite provides a total break from life in the outside world, set as it is in such beautiful Devon countryside, with zero light pollution (On a clear night you will marvel at the clarity of the night sky), fresh clean air, woodland walks, and with only 12 pitches, Hole Station never seems crowded.

Hole Station Campsite is a stress free zone - especially when sat around the camp fire at night idly chatting and listening to the sounds of the woods. You may see the barn owls gliding by in complete silence, or watch a family of deer leaving the woods at dusk, heading for the surrounding lush meadows.

We should point out that (as you have probably gathered) Hole Station Campsite is not going to suit you if you are looking for on site bars and entertainments, swimming pools, mini golf, late night partying, letting children run riot and what have you. There are plenty of large commercial sites which cater for that market - there is only one Hole Station and it is never going to go in that direction.

Welcome
