- THE BETTING STYLE OF OTHER PLAYERS
- The only time you can go along with a raise of
blinds instead of folding is when your starting hand is at least a
pair of 10's or any higher combination and the players who are
betting higher blinds are playing very wild and loose with nothing
at all on hand.
- This is the kind of table at which your tight way of
playing will pay off at its very best!
- Make sure to always be paying close attention to who
is betting, calling and raising and with what cards. If the betting
goes wild and somebody wins with only a low pair then you will know
that this is a table with lots of loose players. Your patience and
correct decisions will make you a favourite to win the most money of
anyone at this kind of a table.
- If other payers are playing really tight, betting
very little and only winning with good combinations, you could maybe
take the risk of playing a little more cards from the blinds in the
latest position, but it is very hard to make a good win at such a
table. Playing poker takes hours of patience and more so, and if the
cards just aren't going your way for a couple of hours then find
yourself another table!
- The biggest mistake you can make if you are in a
betting round is to go along with another player, who is not a
totally wild and crazy loose player, who is raising on
you. Fold unless you are very very sure about having the very
best hand.
- If you feel that you are unsure, or even worse - if you are thinking that you want to see what his hand is - Then FOLD!!! This will make you avoid the
biggest mistakes and the highest loss of money in this game. The
last betting rounds cost a LOT more than the high blind to get to
see the flop, and to pay that much money on a losing hand is the
worse mistake you can do.
- If you fold every time this situation comes up it
will save you a lot more money in the long run than the money you
can win.
- If you are raised by a totally loose player, or the
same player several times, and you feel that you now have a strong
hand, then just check or call him out to the end. Never re-raise
after being raised on unless you are 99% sure you have got the
better hand.
