It is very rare for a car to become an almost mystical object, but this is exactly what has happened to the Mine`s N1 based R34 after it lapped Japans Tsukuba Circuit in 57.7secs in the "street class". This means that it has no roll cage, its not stripped to save weight, it has climate control, a stereo and a catalyst. But what is amazing is the fact that it is capable of posting times more akin to fully stripped out racers in the "open class".

Powered by Mine`s stage II engine this car is characterised by electrifying response, with a power output of 580 - 600bhp and 434lbs ft torque at 5,400 rpm. The Mines RB26 is fitted with lightweight Tomie internals. The cylinder head is ported and polished and fitted with uprated valves. The cams aren`t to wild either when you consider what the car was built for. 260 degree and 10.2mm lift on the intake and 252 degree and 9.5mm on the exhaust. Turbo`s are HKS 2530`s. The huge exhaust (90mm) is lightweight and made from Titanium. Mines uses it own ecu, the VX-Rom. 600cc injectors and an in tank fuel pump supply the engine with fuel. Drive is through the Getreg six speed gearbox, twin plate carbon clutch, carbon fibre prop shaft to an uprated LSD.  Final drive has been reduced to 3.7 compared to the standard 3.545 enableing the car to excellerate faster but reducing top speed. Dynamic dampers (built in the UK) have been mated to 10kg/mm springs. The suspension arms have been changed to rose jointed items to allow for full adjustment. AP Racing brakes are fitted with 6-pot at the front and 4-pot at the rear. Externally the car is fitted with a carbon rear wing with taller stays and a boot spoiler. Carbon Fibre mirrors replace the original items. Finally the car is finished off with a set of BBS RE-Mg magnesium alloy wheels weighing just 8.2kg each.
